We are planning a trip to DR 09-21 to 09-28 I really want to stay at DH but I have some doubts I have a 2 and a 4 years old and I'm wondering if the hotel is not too far from DR . Also can some one tell me about the rooms at the DH I've only stayed at Fairfield Inn which is just across the street and the rooms are basic but spacious and I've also stayed at the marriot by the convention center and the rooms there are nicer but the space was very limited. I would really appreciate any sugestions. I have a hold at DH for 119.00 a night that I know is a great rate.

The Disneyland Hotel rooms are wonderful, spacious, and fabulous for kids. You can always take the monorail rather than walk. You got a great rate.

You will love it - it is 10 times nicer than the Fairfield. (I've been there....)

What's wrong with Fairfield? I've never been there so I'm just asking. I live about 2 hours from DL and go to DL about every other weekends on Fridays and Sundays. Their $55/night offer sounds nice and I'm planning to stay there for a night every other weekends so I can visit DL for 2 days. I guess it's fine if I just want to stay for a night? Nothing fancy?

You do have a good rate at the Disneyland Hotel. I would stay there. If you do have to walk, it is pretty far, but you can take the monorail from the station next to the Rainforest Cafe. The walk from the hotel to the station is only a few minutes.

If you do walk, you're entire trip is through Downtown Disney with shopping, restaurants, and a movie theater. It's a nice atmosphere.

Have a great time, post a report when you get back.

Let me put it this way... my husband refuses to consider *any* Fairfield Inn after staying there. Low water pressure, a musty smell in the bathroom, worn fixtures, loud heater, upholstery needed cleaning, pillows were lumps, mattresses were hard and uneven. There are exterior corridors, which increases road noise, and our room faced the freeway which meant we got a LOT of road noise.

That said, there are many people who love the Fairfield.

If you are looking for rates under $50 and don't mind taking shuttles, I very highly recommend that you visit BiddingForTravel.com (http://biddingfortravel.com/) and look at their tips for using Priceline.com. I got the Westcoast Anaheim (a 3* hotel) for $45 in mid-June.

Laffite, there is nothing wrong with the fairfield inn It's actually very conveniently located and Mc Ds is right there. Last time we were there we could see the fireworks from outside our room. Make sure you don't stay near the pool area because it was very loud. Also it actually took longer to take the shuttle than walking

I've moved this thread to the Parenting in the Park forum primarily because the OP has questions regarding appropriateness for his young children.

I absolutely recommend the DLH. You'll love it with your kids. Bring two cheap strollers so you can stroll them when they're tired.

One suggestion tho... Expedia can beat your rates, assuming the rate you quoted didn't include tax. You have to pay for the entire hotel stay when you make the ressie. But their current rate for DLH is $129/nite, with the 4th nite free (which works out to $96/nite plus tax). You'd have to book 2 separate trips (I ran it as 9/14-9/18, and 9/18-9/21, as the later dates of your trip are still too far out to get their discount rates) so you get 2 free nites on an 8 nite stay.

I'd keep your current ressies, but at the end of this week, run it and see what you get. I'm guessing it shouldn't be any problem, and essentially, you'll get the tax for free... Remember, you'll have to book two separate stays -- 9/21 - 9/25 and 9/25-9/29, but over an 8 nite period, that would save you $200!!!

Just call me your travel agent!!!

Thank you so much for all that information it is very helpful! I have been checking expedia but I think the date was still too far to get a good discount. I see you're from sacramento I'm just about 45 min. from there.

Yep! Drive thru Fairfield regularly. Do you have SF Marine World season passes? Must be great to live so close. The hour and 15 minutes for us is just long enough to limit it a bit, but we have the passes.

Keep checking your dates. I just pulled up even cheaper rates runnin 9/20-9/24 (I wanna say $91/nite based on 4 nites). So, I think it will come thru for you. You can book one segment at a time, remember, just do one 4 nite stay and then the other as it gets cheaper...

PM me when you know for sure you're going to go ... I'll be there 9/27 - 10/1 (not at DLH, tho :( I wish I'd waited and hadn't gone with the package now!) Maybe we can meet up for a soda or a churro in the park!

Taylor -- I just checked Expedia and the current rates for DLH for Sat 9/21 - Thurs 9/26 nites are currently at the $129 rate ... You could book the first 4 nites now, getting your 4th nite free for an average of $96/nite before tax... I didn't understand from your original post if you're planning to stay through to Sunday 9/29 (with your last nite 9/28). If so, you can get two free nites, if you book them as two separate stays (9/21 - 9/25 now, and then when the rest of the nites come down a couple of days from now, book the 9/25-9/29 stay)

If you have to leave on Sat 9/28, then I'd recommend you book 9/21-9/25 at Expedia, to get the free nite, then use your ressie for the $119/nite for the remaining 3 nites...

Hope you have a magical trip, and be sure to PM me if you wanna meet up in the park while we're both there (I'm 9/27 - 10/1)! Hope your kids adore the pixie dust in DLH's rooms!
