View Full Version : Couple of questions... [Easter, Early Entry, Parking]
annieb727 03-19-2008, 02:15 PM My friends are leaving this weekend and driving down to Disneyland. They will arrive on Sunday. They have the Citypass, so will need to exchange their vouchers for tickets. Their first day at DL will be on Monday, so I am suggesting they go on Sunday and exchange the vouchers for tickets.
Question...since Sunday is Easter, is the park likely to hit capacity - thereby halting ticket sales? Will this affect them since they have techinically already bought their tickets? Of course, they won't be using them that day, but there's no way for Disney to know that. So perhaps having them go in the evening to exchange the vouchers would be a good way to have them do it?? What do you think?
Also, how long can they park at that parking right off of Harbor? I figure that will be most convenient for them to park if they're just exchanging their vouchers.
Also...Magical Mornings (or Early Entry - whatever it's called now)...that is on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, right? With the park opening at 8am, then it starts at 7am, correct? I know a few years back with an 8am opening, the Early Entry was starting at 6:30am.
Question about DTD parking...is there a time that it opens? I know the parking structure doesn't open until 30 minutes prior to park opening, so in order for them to make it to EE, they will need to park at DTD parking for a couple of hours. Will they be able to get into DTD parking at 6:30am? And they can park for up to three hours for free right? What happens if they go over the three hours? What is the rate then?
Alright...those are all the questions I have for right now...I'm sure I'll come up with more soon ;)
annieb727 03-19-2008, 02:20 PM Ok...I already thought of a couple more questions...
Which rides are currently using FastPasses? Are all FP rides doing FP now because it's such a busy season? (i'm used to travelling in Sept/Oct, so peak season travel is new for me)
Where is a good place to sit for the Electrical Parade?
And do people sit before the fireworks reserving seats and just stand before the fireworks start? I want to get them on Main Street for the fireworks...any great spots I should tell them about that have less waiting. Is it easy to plant oneself on the train platform for the fireworks...and is that a good view of them?
Thanks again!

I don't see why not. I don't think the park usually fills to capacity Easter Sunday. I think it's just very busy. Also, I think there is usually at least one ticket area open, even when the park is filled.

I believe, and don't quote me on this-- That is 15 minute parking. Usually it's people picking up CM's that I see parked there.

EE is one hour before park opening.

Indy, Pirates, HM, Splash, BTMRR, Roger Rabbit, Space Mountain & Buzz? Someone correct me if I'm wrong or I've missed one. DCA: ToT, Screamin, Bugs Life, GRR
Where is a good place to sit for the Electrical Parade?
We like to sit right by the Golden Gate Bridge parade area... Just inside the entrance. We get ice cream and get to see the parade right as it comes out of the gates. And we can get up and leave before the rest of the parade viewers.

Usually people sit around and stand up a few minutes before the fireworks start. The Train Station has a good view, I usually like to be closer to the castle though, just before the hub.
annieb727 03-19-2008, 02:40 PM Another question...
Is there a map that shows where the Disneyland Parking structures are - and where the DTD parking is?
annieb727 03-19-2008, 02:42 PM Thanks Peachy!!!
Jim Dear and Darling 03-19-2008, 03:04 PM I left off Autopia for fast passes -- it has one too. I don't know the answer to your map question...
Matterhorn Yodeler 03-19-2008, 05:25 PM and where the DTD parking is?
Self Parking:
Your first three hours of parking at the Downtown Disney District are free. An additional two hours can be validated at AMC Theatres and at table-service dining restaurants. After that, its $6 for each additional hour, charged in 20-minute increments.
The North lot is located at Disneyland Drive and Magic Way. The lot is always open.
The South lot is located on Disneyland Drive next to Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. This lot is only open at night based on demand.
If you dine at a Resort Hotel or a Downtown Disney restaurant get your parking validated by the restaurant and can park for up to 5 hours for free.

In DCA, add Soarin.

Thanks Malcon10t. :) I thought it was possible they had done away with those two... They were pretty silly, since the lines move so fast without them.
Bytebear 03-19-2008, 08:59 PM I usually stand directly behind the hub, just right of the popcorn stand. Just find a place where you have a clear view of the castle, and you will be fine. I think back by the train station is too far back. If you are at the hub, on the street and to the left, that seems to be a pretty good place too. I also like the area on the street of the hub, toward the left between the entrance of Adventureland and the hub.

In february I took someone's advice from MP and sat right down the beginning of the EP route - opposite the Jumpin Jellyfish - I strolled up there 10 minutes before it began and actually got a bench to sit on on a saturday night! (nowhere near as busy as easter I am guessing, but still); when the parade finished I walked up past grizzly river rapids and past california soarin;, getting to the main entrance plaza as the parade was about half way through there at the end; where the crowd was REALLY thick - I couldn't believe it, we were a single line, up the end was everyone else craning to see. anyway, it took 5 minutes to get out of the park and into DL where I walked up the stairs to the railway station and scored a prem-o spot to watch the fireworks, standing just behind the VIP seating. the fireworks started about 2 minutes after I got there; after the fireworks I caught the train that arrived just as they ended around to NOS to avoid the crowds - it was an amazingly successful strategy. AND to make it even more satisfying (in a mean kind of way), as the train pulled out I could see that the DCA crowd trying to get into DL was at least half way out across the square.
so, that is what I would advise your friends!
