Okay, so I'm just gonna get right into it, I had a blast planning this trip and deciding what hotel to stay at, but the beginning of the trip I felt miserable..
CAN YOU BELIEVE THESE WORDS?! I WAS IN WDW FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! but here's what it wAs.. my first trip to WDW X-mas week 06' was amazing, we stayed at POP and I couldn’t believe how awesome it was, so we get to POFQ, and something is just missing from me, I didn't feel what I had felt before, don't get me wrong POFQ is a beautiful hotel, but it took me 3 days to finally speak up to my bf that this hotel wasn't what I wanted. It just wasn't my speed :( I was craving that lively energy at POP, the feeling as if you haven't left the parks, I was missing this, and missing it bad, SO much that I asked my bf if he could at least try to do something about it, boy was he furious! He was mad because he said it was all a waste, and my counter was that it would be a waste to keep staying here [POFQ], where I wasn't having much fun, while we could be at POP for even cheaper. I think he also couldn't imagine the thought of switching hotels after we were already situated there for 3 days, but I didn't think of that one bit, because I knoW all we'd have to do is leave our luggage with baggage check.
So, first attempt.. oh! The first attempt was actually on day 2, but we were rejected, and it was a bit late, the people at the check-in said it wasn't possible, and when my bf told me this I just wasn't having that answer, because we all know that's not the service we expect at this happy place. First, he didn't even want to try, but after they told him no, then his whole attitude changed, (he's the one who handles all this type of stuff in our relationship, the check-ins, the phone calls everything, and if there is a discrepancy, usually he won't get off the phone until he wins lol, no shame in his game really [but always polite of course]) Anyways, before we went to sleep we talked about it for a bit and agreed that something wasn't right, and that their answer was too quick, and they should be able to do something about it, so he said he would try again first thing in the morning before we hit the parks. So the alarm goes off, he calls the front desk, and it's a different person of course, and a different person means a different answer, they tell us that we'd have to call POP because they're the ones to talk to if that's what we wanted to do, which didn't make any sense because that wasn't our hotel, but we tried anyways, and of course POP tells us that they can't do anything about that, we have to talk to our hotel. By this time it's just about ridiculous, the service wasn't very Disney-like having us passed around like that, but I do know now it's because we were talking to the wrong people. But before I get to that, Derek, my bf, asks to speak to a manager (at POFQ), and the person on the phone says that the manager wasn't in the building at the moment, but would be contacted, and they asked for our information and we told them that we booked a package online, which is when they connected us with the Disney travel agent, the REAL people we should've been talking to, I guess that was our mistake too, but hey it was only our 2nd trip, NEWBIES HELLO! So finally the person on the phone was the answer to all our prayers, not only did they take care of everything, and have our money credited to our account [in x amount of business days], but she put the manager on 3 way and scolded them for the previous treatment lol! Our room at POP was even ready all we had to do was go over there and check-in and like I predicted, we just had to leave our luggage at the baggage check-in :D ALso we were expecting that we would just get to POP on our own via the bus system, but nope! Now here's where my memory fails me, because I can't remember HOW we got to POP all I know is that we didn't have to take the regular bus, it could've been the DME motor coach, or a van or something I reaally can't remember, I would ask Derek but he's asleep. So anyhoo, after we got off the phone, we had to bask in our triumphant glory, we cheered, we jumped and I danced knowing that I would be at POP soon.. lol
I also want to add that: please don't be put off from staying at POFQ, because this is just my personal taste, I'm 24 and even though I'm young I still feel younger than my age lol.. and if you've been to POP or seen pictures of it, you'll notice it looks much like a giant Disney gift shop, or even a play area, and I guess this is what really appealed to me, just being surrounded by Disney theming and fun fun fun, even the music is subconsciously affecting your mood. While I was at POFQ I found myself constantly comparing it to POP, and boy did the comparisons increase after we got to POP! From the looks to the smells to the energy, also I hated how POFQ had like a gazillion bus stops then had to go to Riverside as well, it seemed like we were always the last to get home, and the last to get to the park, then at POP I loved hopping on the bus knowing we were going straight to the parks or straight home.
So our trip was once again amazing, the end! :D
