As I was surfing through the disneyworld.com site, I ran across some entertainment called OrisiRisi, a storyteller group from Africa at what the site called the African Outpost Pavilion. What is this? I haven't heard of this pavilion. It must be new or small. Anyone have any more info? Are there shops? Things to eat? Anything other than the storytellers? Just wondering. Hard to find information on this "pavilion".

It's small. It's between China and Germany. There's a very small counter service there - I think drinks and maybe ice cream (soft serve). A couple of small areas of 'stuff'. I think OrisiRisi are drummers/storytellers. If you listen to the podcasts, that would be a really good "Ask the Kid" question (to ask what the entertainment there is like).

ETA: If you want to shop for "African" Stuff - go to Animal Kingdom, the store near the Safari - or even in the store in AKL.

there is some merchandise there too. Andrew from Kenya makes soapstone carvings.

the outpost was what never became of an equatorial africa pavilion. all in all, it's mostly a coke themed rest area and drink/ice cream stand.

i don't think i've ever actually caught orisirisi but considering they have a drum setup there full time, i'm sure it's what it is, a combination of storytelling and drum playing

you can visit their website at http://www.orisirisi.com

We've seen the Orisirisi and they are really good. Very enthusiastic even on the very hot day we saw them. Kids really enjoy them.

Another place for African things is the gift shop at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
