My best friend (all thru school) and I are planning going to Disney in April staying at the Pop Century. I booked it under a AAA rate for less $390 for 4 nights back in December (great rate.) My friend is has never been there before but I have many times staying at the All Stars, POFQ and Riverside. I wanted to stay at the French Quarter but AAA rate was sold out by the time I got the dates confirmed we were going.
I've read Pop Century has smaller rooms and noisey. We don't need alot of bells and whistles we just want a clean place and get a good nights rest. I have called Disney several times to see if they have gotten any openings but everything has been booked for weeks except a suite for $1,000 a night at Wildneress Lodge.
Can anyone give me suggestions as where to stay (building ) at Pop Century. I have requested a ground floor room. I hope I made a good decision staying there.

I consider Pop Century a half (or quarter) step up from the All Stars - so if you go in with the expectation that it will be like All-Stars, you shouldn't be disappointed.
It is a little larger overall, but quite a bit newer (which is one of the reasons it gets a step up from me). I also like that the main building is in the middle of the other buildings, and not on the end, like the All-Stars are arranged. The other advantage (to me) is that it never shares a bus with another resort (sometimes the All-Stars share between them).
I've stayed in a number of different locations in this resort, and haven't been disappointed by any. If you're concerned about noise, particularly with a request for ground floor, you might want to add that you don't want it facing a pool.

We'd never stayed at a value before last summer and I was a bit nervous about POP, especially noise, but it was great for us. I really think you can't beat it for what you get pricewise (we also got AAA rate). I don't think POP rooms are any smaller than All Stars, are they? We stayed in the 50s building, 4th floor, back (or hourglass lake) side. We loved that location. It was quiet, but still close enough to everything. We also liked the 50s pool. We chose the back side and upper level specifically to avoid noise issues. The buildings do have elevators.
Have fun!
We loved the theme; the food court in terms of offerings was good-but too small for a resort this size. Liked that they didn't share buses with another resort; loved the groovy cheesecake and coca-cola icees; rooms are well engineered in terms of space usage-but, yes, small-but no smaller than those at the All-Stars. In terms of closeness to things-we requested(and got) 70's and felt that it was closer to lobby and pool than the moderate we had just stayed at. In order to decrease noise we requested(and got) 3rd or 4th floor away from a pool. Still felt alot of neighbor noise but not pool noise.
Will have to remember that "hourglass lake side" for next time. There were things I loved about Pop and things that I didn't-but the price is right-and I feel that it is the best value in the value category.

FUN, FUN, FUN! I wouldn't hesitate a bit to go back, but location is important. I second the 50s building, facing away from the bowling pin pool -- very quiet but conveniently located. Loved the food court and the music and the general feel of the place.

i stayed at pop in january. we had a preffrered room so it was close to the lobby and pool. i loved it. i would most definately go back. its really worth all the money you end up saving too (especially with a cast member rate :) ) the rooms are just ok, nothing really special. clean and comfy. the food court was really neat. food was not that pricey. we ate there every morning before heading to the parks. the mugs is also a really good buy. its like $12 or something like that but you get free refills your entire stay.

This resort is top notch at such a low price, out of all the values I'm sure this is where you really get your moneys worth.
The first time I stayed I was in the 70s building 3rd floor, noise level was low and the location was very convenient. Second time was in the 50s building facing away from the pool, ground floor, it was very quiet and facing lush greenery.
If you search all my posts, you'll find a story I shared about how I transferred from POFQ to POP last Oct :D
