As we prepare for our Disney cruise, I am looking for a portable way to increase the number of power outlets we'll be provided in the room. I just saw on a tech blog the following item:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=400738

It is a mini splitter that provides three grounded outlets as well as two USB charging ports. If you're traveling with ipods, cell phones or other usb powered devices, this is a great way to cut down on the number of wall warts you need to bring.

Cool! I wonder what "coming soon" means?

It means that it has just been released and isn't available in Belkin's online shop. I found one online retailer, PC Connection(s?) and they were offering it at $19.95 with a two week lead time.

Has anyone else seen a similar competing product?

If you don't need the USB ports, you could also get a Monster Power-to-go (http://www.amazon.com/Monster-MP-OTG400-BK-Outlets/dp/B000F9YN2M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1205334836&sr=8-1) portable power-strip. I bought one and found it to be a great item to have on a recent trip. The big advantage of this one is that the outlets are spaced far enough apart to accommodate fairly large plugs. The Belkin looks like the outlets are much closer together.

When traveling, we typically have a laptop, two cell phones, and a digital camera. None of those charge via USB, so the Monster is much more useful to us. My wife's MP3 player and our GPS receiver do charge via USB, but both also have pretty long battery life and we can always just plug them into the laptop if we do need to charge them.

Agree with your points. I will probably bring a cheap extension cord to use for the 'middle' outlet and use the outer ones for wall warts.

If I'm in the room, I don't mind having the laptop play 'charger', but it sure is nice to be able to charge without having to pull out the laptop and worried about it getting stolen while I'm out.
