I will be leading an group with a total, including me, of 8 people. It will be the second week of April. We do a noon to close for DCA on Fri. and a 8am to exhaustion on Sat. I consider myself an expert planner and pretty much know where to go when. My question is about some of the maxs on certain rides. Like what is the max on Splash, or GRR? Are there any other rides that might break up our group? Is there an 8 across on TOT? Are there any other issues or tips for a party of 8? I'm planning on making dinner rez on Fri for Storytellers and still trying to decide what to do on Sat.

Splash seats 7 people, one double seat in the back for 2 people and 5 individual single seats. GRR seats 8(I believe). TOT's back row seats 7 or 8 people. I cant remember for sure. The rest of the rides are double seats. Soarin' should be no problem. I usually travel with a group of 10 with 8 children included(WOW, I know. How do we do it?) My recommendation is to make reservations to all the places that you plan on dining in and make them as early as possible, preferably before you arrive at DLR.

I can tell you on Splash you are going to have to split up. They only have 6 seats per log. Only reason I know this is because we have the picture. :) But having an even amount of people should help. Space Mountain sits 2 side by side so everyone in your party should have someone they know next to them. And you should all be able to sit in the same area. Just thought I would give you the little I know, someone should come along shortly to help you out. Sounds like fun though! I think a big group like this would be fun. I hope you have a great time! :D
LOL I guess I was wrong! I was in the back seat....and it did seem roomy! Oh well! Glad someone who really knows came along. :)

TOT is in rows of threes and fours (so you will be in two rows of 4)
Indi is 4 and 4
POTC will likely be 3-3-2
You'll probably get your own row on Soarin' and Star Tours
Everything else will break you into twos and fours.

Hey, it almost took 5 minutes to get all the great info. Is this forum slowing down? :)

For Splash you can ask for two logs and go 4/4 so that two pictures will have the entire group....you risk single riders taking up the last spot but not always.

Will a group of 11 (4 adults, 5 teens and 2 kids) be able to ride POTC all at once?

Yes. When we go with my sister's family there are 12 of us and we all fit in the POTC boat and there are even other people on it with us.

the back row on splash can seat 2 if one is a child, my little one will not ride anywhere else except next to mom in the back row she doesn't like the "BIG down. the little downs and the medium ones are ok though and the one with the bump is even fun" DD age 5 at the time.

Thank you! I thought there was enough room for all of us but wasn't sure.

"36"

"Rows 1 and 2 please"

(c'mon, those who were there know you were wondering if anyone else was going to mention it!)

It's true. I was there.

I think we figured out that somewhere around 21 people was the max we could fit in a boat - but that was pushing it!

Do you think the CM might have heard "mumble 6?"

Do you think the CM might have heard "mumble 6?"

If the CM heard it, it was the CM's fault for not listening carefully because we were always very careful to say it clearly.

This became a joke because it happened frequently that they never gave us enough rows for as many people as we had. We did figure out that 18-20 was the most we could fit into ONE boat. We would have groups that size and they would not give us an entire boat but would try to squeeze us just into a few rows. Or we'd have more than that and at most they'd give us one boat.

We learned that squeezing too many people in a boat is not only uncomfortable, but it causes the boat to get stuck around the first corner, right before the first drop. We'd tell the CMs "No, we can't all fit that many people in one boat. It will get stuck." Some CMs would listen to us. Some assumed we didn't know what we were talking about.

Or we'd have more than that and at most they'd give us one boat. We had 19 last July (had to redo my headcount to be sure.) We left the service pup in the kennel that evening so we could use regular lines. They TRIED putting us in 4 rows. Now, we did have a couple small kids, but we also had a few big kids (adults.) We just looked at the CM and said "C'mon, give us the boat, there is NO WAY we are going to be comfy in 4 rows." She gave it to us, but didn't seem happy. Somewhere I have the pic.

I think CMs get used to hearing 2, 5, 7, 9 and not expecting a big number like 36. I have been in groups that large, and we usually split ourselves up in convenient numbers. And we have bottomed out on Small World many times, and occasionally Pirates. :)
