I will be going for a week to Disney June 18-24. I am condisering buying an annual pass for my family. We are getting room only discount 40% off. I figure we will go back next year as we always do. Also I could sign up for the dining discount card since will not be able to purchase dining plan. What do you guys think?

To get the room discount and DDE card, you just need to have one AP. Is the 40% an AP discount, or another discount you've already gotten? If it's the AP discount, have you already booked it at that? The reason I ask is because there is limited availability, and if you're just assuming you'll be able to get it, you might be paying full price!

Will you be able to schedule next years' trip for a week earlier? Also, I would run the numbers for the different options you have for your tickets to decide if you want one AP and the rest park hoppers for both trips -- or if everyone gets an AP.

I have the 40% off discount with a cast member discount a friend of mine works at disney. I do not wantto bother her with getting us in it sounds to complicated. I didn't consider gettig onw annual passholder ticket. I was wanting to get the dining card for 20% off you could only get with an annual pass or florida resident.

We were passholders from July 2006 to July 2007. We spent over 35 days in the parks. If you are going to go twice per year, it's worth it.

I would not get an AP just for the DDE card, but would use that as a 'tie breaker' if the cost were close. You have to pay for the DDE card, so you have to spend over X to pay for the DDE card, plus if you're paying extra for the AP over the cost of park hoppers, you have to include that in your math.

But APs, on their own, might make sense if you are able to do two week-long trips in a 365 day period.

A Tourist AP is $448. A six day hopper is $262. The DDE card for an AP holder is $65. You would have to spend approximately $305 for the DDE to pay for itself (the number looks wierd bacuase the tax is adjusted also).

If you will be doing two trips in the 12 months then it is definitely worthwhile.

Can you also get a discount on merchandise with the card? How about counter service does anyone take them? I really am torn about buying season passes I always say we are not going back but we always do.

There is a list of all the discounts that are afforded you with an annual pass on the disneyworld website. I do know you get 15% off at world of Disney at the DTD Marketplace.
