Hello All,

I'm wondering about the VBulletin program that your using for the discussion board. I'm looking into writing a grant to get a bulletin board (not for Disney related items).

I found their web site with the pricing which I found quite inexpensive but I did have some other questions. How much web site space do you need to run it? I'm assuming that the program itself isn't much but that as the number of posts grow it will become an issue.

MousePad currently uses around 1.5GB of disk space, of which roughly 1GB is "data" (mostly posts) and a bit under a half gig of index. vB forums with more liberal avatar and attachment policies would use more data space. That doesn't count the actual vB files--I'm not sure how much space they take but I don't think it's too much--probably in the 10-20MB range. Hope that helps!

Thank you Andrew! That does help!

Keep in mind that we have well over a million posts and almost 20,000 members. A new vB instance won't use nearly that much.

That's still good information. Right now, my professional organization has about 2,500 members. Assuming that we get all 2,500 to sign up and post it doesn't seem like we will need that much space. I guess the issue will be if the organization will be willing to host the discussion board and will it cost them a lot of bandwidth doing so.
