Can anyone tell me about their experience taking the Disneyland Express from DLR to LAX?

We are flying in to SNA and will probably take a taxi to the Grand Californian. But we are flying out of LAX (because the times and durations of return flights were bad). There are 3 of us, 2 adults and an 11 year old. I'm thinking about the Disneyland Express because our son loves to ride on that kind of bus. Our flight leaves at 11:20am on a Saturday, and it's Southwest, so we would want to be earlier than that probably, to get decent seats. I'd want to be at LAX around 9am at the latest.

Specifically,

1. Do you have to make a reservation?
2. How long does it take?
3. Was it on time?
4. Other useful tips/details?

Thanks!

1. Yes, on the trip from Anaheim to LAX you need to call and reserve your seats.

2. The drive from the Disneyland Hotel to LAX should be about 45 minutes to an hour. They will pick you up at the GCH and then stop at the Disneyland Hotel before they leave.

3. It tends to be pretty reliable, and they have plenty of buses and drivers, and will add additional buses if needed.

4. You save a couple of dollars per person if you pre-purchase your tickets.

Here is a link to all the info, including the phone number to call.

We just used the DL Express to travel from the DL Hotel to LAX on Sunday. You do not have to call ahead to book this trip. When we took the shuttle from the airport to the resort we were given a return trip voucher and the driver told us it picked up at the DL hotel on the hour. They were prompt and it was all very hassle free!

Thanks, DB, for the general info, and ssturgeo for the "trip report".

I did call them this weekend, because I was having trouble booking just a one-way DLR to LAX trip. They must not have many people going that way who haven't come on the bus from LAX, because neither their website nor the info page they sent me after I pre-paid for our tickets is very clear. But the info page provided an email address to contact if you had questions, which I used successfully. Apparently, we need to call them the day before to "schedule a pickup". Wish we could do this before we leave, so I don't have to remember to do it, while I'm having fun in the park!
