View Full Version : strollers at DLR
witneys7 03-06-2008, 01:36 PM Hello- quick stroller questions I need to double check on. According to the disney website stroller rentals are $10 a day:
Question 1) is this the same for double strollers?
2)can you still show your receipt throughout the day and get a new stroller if you lost yours, or left and came back, or switched parks?
3)I know at WDW you can pay a flat fee for strollers at the beginning of your stay that saves you a few bucks overall and saves you time from having to stand in line every time, is there something like this at DLR?
Thank you!
kingqueen 3princesses 03-06-2008, 02:24 PM If you get a Disney Visa, you could get free stroller rentals!
candles71 03-06-2008, 02:26 PM They don't have double strollers. But if you rent 2 you get a discount. $18 for 2. Yes you can show your receipt to get a new one if misplaced. And they are doing something new with prepayment but I don't remember the particulars (was sept). as far as switching parks you just walk from one to the other with the child still in the same stroller. You do have to leave it at bag check if going outside this area. Sometimes its still there when you come back. You get a name plate for the top that says which one is yours..
mousemommy 03-06-2008, 03:35 PM are the strollers big enough for a small 5 year old? we are planning on going in 2009 and our daughter has a medical condition and could get tired out. I don't care about funny looks from strangers who don't understand by the way. she is petite but not by too much... Would a 5 year old say 40-45 lbs fit in one of those?

The last time we went my mil rented a stroller for my then 9 year old who is special needs and I didn't notice anyone looking at us funny, or perhaps I just didn't care:) So, your petite 5 year should fit just fine!
witneys7 03-06-2008, 04:14 PM Alright, so just having a disney visa will get us 2 free strollers a day? Do we need to use it so often before hand to earn the points or disney dollars in order to get them? What are the terms I suppose is what I am asking? Thanks!
Nope. just show them your card and you get the free stroller. You dont need to have a certain amout of points.

Thanks for posting,
there have been other threads that talked about older children in strollers getting odd looks and even comments. Shoot, I am perfectly healthy and I would like a stroller at DL!!!!!
candles71 03-06-2008, 04:31 PM My 9 year old weighs 59 pounds and still just gets tired same with now 6 year old we rent them anyway they have a 80 or 90 lb weight limit on them, they are built like a jogging stroller, so tall and roomie, doesn't recline though. There is a basket underneath that holds our lunch bag and backpack, which we just leave (nothing of value inside) when we go on rides. NO ONE has ever bothered our stuff. And I have never noticed anyone looking at us funny for my kids being in them.
witneys7 03-06-2008, 04:31 PM this is why the boards are so great!! People share info and save other people money. That little visa tip just saved me $90-I just think that is fantastic. Another tip yesterday saved me $32. I love money saving tips!:D
tnkdyer 03-06-2008, 05:10 PM I know this is probably a given, but be sure you have your driver's license with you as well. When you present your visa for your free stroller, the CMs ask for your identification and I've almost left mine in the hotel before...just a head's up. :)

On the other hand, in September, someone stole a brand new pirate hat out from under an old sweatshirt and old baseball cap, in the bottom basket of our cheapie stroller.
So never ever leave anything you'll miss. And don't leave *anything* if you think that having *anything* stolen from you will mar your trip.
(the CMs made up the loss of the hat, once DS told the right CMs who felt sad for him... but it's March now and he still talks about the "bad pirates" who stole his hat, so even a theft that leaves no financial mark can have long-lasting effects...be careful)
witneys7 I think I answered your questions elsewhere (anyone need a bumbershoot? lol), and I doubt you need me to answer them again after everyone has done so! :p
raidermouse 03-07-2008, 11:12 AM You get 2 free strollers with your disney visa card. We have two girls,7 and 5, and we use strollers to extend their day for our enjoyment. Some call it lazy I call it "Disney is so expensive but I love it and want to get the most for my day" lol.

I have heard that leaving a cloth diaper strategically stained with apple juice or cola (and allowed to dry of course) on top of your stuff is helpful.
