View Full Version : Park Vue Inn vs Sheraton Park Hotel
letitsnow 03-04-2008, 09:29 AM Hello everyone!!!
This year we are taking a trip Aug 7-11th and Nov 21-26th. I have reservations at 2 places Park Vue Inn $123/night and Sheraton Park Hotel Anaheim $50/night (DBIL works for starwood hotels) I love how Park Vue is right there...and if we stay at the Sheraton we will have to pay for ART or parking.
What are your thoughts on this??? Any good things about the Sheraton? I know the price is good but is it worth the inconvenience?
Thanks for your opinions...
Schmetterling 03-04-2008, 02:34 PM I stayed at the Park Vue Inn in 2002 and loved it. I would stay there again if we could afford the extra $$$$. The rooms were really big, and we had 5 girls staying in one room with no problems. Didn't run out of hot water, had enough space for all our stuff. And its such a good location. I also remember when we went their pool was heated so you could go swimming even after the sun went down. I think you will love it, being that close really helps with being able to take breaks when you need them without a long walk. Hope that helps some! Like I said, it was 2002, so you may want to ask someone that has gone recently. But for ME personally it was a nice hotel, and the location really is the highlight! :D
AlbertaMinnie 03-04-2008, 05:40 PM That's a tough one... That's a huge price difference. I guess it depends how close you want to be or if saving the extra dollars is more important. We stayed at the Park Vue this summer and were very very pleased. Within minutes of leaving the hotel we were at the park gates. If you stayed at the Sheraton would you have to depend on shuttles? Would you take the savings and use them for character meals or something? Those are just a few things I would consider.. Good Luck! Have fun!
emmah 03-04-2008, 11:31 PM I loved the Park Sheraton when we stayed there a couple of years ago; we walked - it was not any further away than Hojos and its on the same side of the road which made it seem closer. I guess it depends on who is in your party but for our party of adults, we didn't bother with ART. If I was making that choice, it would be a no-brainer.
Malcon10t 03-05-2008, 06:42 AM Actually, Hojo's is .47 miles from the esplanade, where as the Sheraton Park is .72 miles, so it's not the same distance. BUT, it is walkable. For the price difference, I would chose the Sheraton. Even if the price was close, I would chose the Sheraton.
MickeyMommy 03-05-2008, 07:46 AM The Sheraton has a MUCH, MUCH nicer pool. There is an outdoor bar where you can order food and beverages, and there is often waiters there to serve you at your lounge chair. The entire pool area is very well landscaped with palm trees and lots of greenery - very resort like.
I have stayed at both places, and althought the Park Vue location is superior, the Sheraton Park is definetely a step up. And for less than half the price????? The walk isn't bad at all, I would go for the Sheraton!
SuzanneSLO 03-05-2008, 09:36 AM Can you stay at the Sheraton Anaheim for about the same price as the Sheraton Park? Although the rooms are probably not as nice at the Sheraton Anaheim (also know as the castle Sheraton), it has a free shuttle bus that is very dependable. They also charge for parking and internet access. No rooms with fireworks views (but you can really HEAR them well, since the hotel is behind DL). Rooms are very large, but bathrooms are small.
After many comfortable stays at the Sheraton Anaheim, we never can bring ourselves to book the Sheraton Park, even when the price is comparable.
Best of luck -- Suzanne

The Sheraton Park and the Sheraton Anaheim are in two distinctly different classes; we have stayed at the SA for our last 3 trips because the price has been fantastic but it is NOWHERE as nice as the Park (we did a split stay there two years ago for various reasons - it was gorgeous but is usually far more expensive than I am willing to pay for). The SA is basically a motel with lovely sweetsleeper beds - the bathrooms are awful, the layout of the hotel is a bit of a nightmare and the food service is pretty ordinary. However, as you point out, the shuttle is fantastic - a really really great benefit to guests, and the staff are lovely. all of which is just to say that if you can have the Park for $50 a night then I would definitely take it, even if the SA was also available at that price...
and thanks for the mileage info - i am surprised because it took less than 10 minutes to walk and we thought it was the same distance as the hojos but obviously we were wrong.
Bolivar 03-05-2008, 10:06 PM It comes down to priorities. As I see it you have three factors:
A) $128 vs. $50
B) Nice grounds/pool vs. no grounds/pool in the middle of the parking lot
C) Long walk or shuttle vs. right there across the street
For a lot of people C isn't that important; to me it is very important. B isn't that important to me. My finances are bad right now, so for me today, A would be important. A couple years ago and maybe next year, A won't be that important, but today it would be a big deal. So to for me it would be a battle between A and C and I would have a hard time choosing.
Only you know which things are important to you.

unfortunately sheraton anaheim is not available at all during that time for the employee rate. it is $177/night = (. I did originally want to stay there due to the free shuttles and larger rooms. i have booked both hotels park sheraton and park vue inn...i guess i'll decide 48 hours prior to our arrival and cancel last minute...argggg!!! sooooo far away! i want to go now!
letitsnow 03-06-2008, 07:41 AM Thank you everyone for all your input! You all have given some great advice and lots for us to think about.
Jim Dear and Darling 03-06-2008, 09:10 AM I really like the Sheraton. Especially the pool. It really is not a very long walk at all. We never took the ART when we stayed there, and it was never a problem.
Bolivar 03-06-2008, 10:55 AM It really depends on how you use the hotel. Do you pretty much just sleep there and spend your time at the park, then the walk/shuttle isn't that big a deal and that is why the chorus of "It really isn't that long a walk." For me, I go back and forth to the room several times throughout the day. I like having it right there so I don't bring a bag with stuff in it. If I want a coat, I go to the room; if I want to get rid of a coat, I go to the room; if I want a snack, I go... you get the picture. So for me, the longer walk is a really big deal.
That is ususally just me going back and forth not the whole family, but I also like to bring the kids back to the room to rest at least twice a day. I find we actually spend more time in the park that way because they stay later in the evening and the time in the park is much more enjoyable for both them and me because they don't hit a wall and don't get grumpy.
So, again that extra distance starts to be a big deal now that we are talking about at least three round trips to the park with the kids.

At $50.00 a night!? GO FOR IT!
nvmom 03-07-2008, 09:21 PM I'd go w/the Sheraton at $50 a night. Wow!
At that price maybe you could justify a cab a couple times... like maybe at the end of the day when the walk always seems longer?? You'd still be money ahead.

nvmom 03-07-2008, 09:23 PM Or wait... this Sheraton is close to the Convention Center, right? Forgive me if I'm totally off...not super familier w/that area... but isn't that kinda close to one of the parking lots, Timon? You could take the tram from that lot? We did that some when we stayed at the Desert Palms. I'm not sure it saved a ton of time... but at least it didn't feel like you were walking quite as far.

mrsdisney68 03-08-2008, 06:27 AM Stayed at the Sheraton Park last summer for 6 nights. Loved it, room with a view of the fireworks could not be better. Pool was terrific. Very nice hotel, used ART everyday, wanted to save my feet for the park. That was never a problem always on time.:) I will be staying again this summer got a great military rate:fez:
