We're currently at the Disneyland Hotel enjoying the AP5 discount ($169.00 per nite). I'm curious about something. When we asked (both on the phone & in person) if we could add concierge we were told the rate would go up to $495.00 per nite (incl. concierge). Any thoughts on why AP's can't add concierge at the regular rate?

I'd guess because they currently don't have any concierge level rooms available at the discounted rate. It's not simply a matter of adding on a benefit. You'd be moving to a whole new category of booking, one that has probably already booked its allotment of AP rooms. So you'd have to convert to a rack rate, which is the $495 nightly rate.
Just guessing, of course.

Could be... Good guess... But not very many folks here & fewer in the E Ticket lounge. Thanks!

The Disney Hotels have some strange booking/pricing policies.
Such as I have booked four nights with AP rates only to find that the kids have something at school they can't miss, so I ask to cancel one of my nights - but they can't do that. You have to cancel the entire reservation then hope there is 3 nights still available at the AP rate to re-book.. If not, you are out of luck.
So now I am extra careful on which dates I book. I have never run into a situation like that at any other hotel.
But for what it is worth, we booked a suit with concierge at the DLH for my 40th birthday in 2005, and felt $125 a night extra was pretty pricey for what you get. I rather spend the money elsewhere.

Last December we got spoiled with the special AP Concierge rates. Alas, they are not available anymore :crying: Anyone have any recent luck upgrading to Concierge at check in time for a small nominal fee? I seem to remember hearing people had done this in the past. If so how much?
Thanks

I've merged your thread with a thread started just a few days ago that addresses this topic.
