DH & I are hoping to have a few moments to ourselves in WDW (gotta love going with grandparents!) and I'd like some suggestions where we can go either in some of the hotels or within the parks. We're staying at Shades of Green which is across from the Poly if that matters. Thanks!
How about a carriage ride around Port Orleans? Think you can book at either FQ or R-and you don't have to be a guest. $30 for about 1/2 an hour. I definitely have my eye on it for when dh and I go. Also, since you're so close to the Poly at SoG-how about watching the water parade from the Poly beach?
Is dinner for just the two of you a possibility? Have more ideas if that's the case.

Love the bar at the AKL (victoria Falls?) followed by dinner at Jiko. Or if you don't want to eat there you can walk around and look at all the animals (use the night vision goggles- they are so cool)

Jiko, but instead of having a drink at Victoria Falls, get the "Chocolate Covered Cherry" only served at Jiko - you can get it at Jiko's bar if you don't want to dine in the restaurant.

Having drinks and dessert at Jikos sounds good! What's the easiest way to get to the AKL from the Shades of Green? We will have a car onsite with us.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and help!

DRIVE! HA! Seriously--driving would be easiest because otherwise, you'd have to catch a bus to AK and then another to AKL. It's not hard to find, you'll get a map when you check into the hotel.
I think you can also go to the bar at the Grand Floridian and watch the fireworks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

If you mean Mizner's Lounge, sorry, it's all inside if I remember correctly.

Last time at WDW my son went to the Kid's Club at the Beach Club and we went to dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. But, my favorite part was after dinner. We walked along Crescent Lake at night to the Boardwalk and spent some time at Jellyroll's watching/listening to the dueling piano players. It was a great time.

If I was going with just my husband I'd do World Showcase at a leisurely stroll starting tea-time and going into the night for EMH. No special meal, but would snack and drink at leisure around the different countries. There are some beautiful details and lovely gardens here as well as some enjoyable shopping/browsing. Also some good live music to be had. Had a night like this on honeymoon a decade ago. Lovely. Attempted a night like this with children in tow a year ago but about 20 minutes in was stopped by hearing the whisper of DS to DD - (Oh no they're holding hands again - pretend you need a wee and they'll hurry up)... What can I say, culture vultures my children... ;) !
