Hi all, I wanted to get some opinions. I was hoping to find a gift card that I could use in the park. What I wanted to do was take like 10 or 25 dollars a week, whatever we had leftover and put it on a gift card. It could add up between now and August. But I looked on Disney's website, and it says that they are only reloadable in the park (gift cards). So that won't work. Anyone have suggestions to do this another way? There is no disney store around my house, so anything related to that won't work either. Any ideas would be welcome! :)

Well, if you have the willpower, why not use a rechargeable "world-wide" card, such as a Visa, MasterCard or American Express card. They all work at Disneyland.
Open a savings account at your bank/credit union, and plan to withdraw it just before you leave. You could get Travellers Checks and redeem them for Disney Dollars or a Disney Gift Card when you arrive.

You could order a small gift card each time you had a little extra money. Or, consider opening an ING account. Its easy to transfer money back in forth and they pay a little interest on your money. It does take a couple days to get your money transfered back into your regular account, which makes it harder to spend it on impluse items. I have an ING account set to automatically take out $20 every Monday. For a long time it was only $10, but I just bumped it up for more Disney spending money. Its a small enough amount that I dont miss it each week.

they really should make those Disney cards rechargable (like Costco cash cards)
If you aren't lucky enough to have a bank/cu that offers those rechargable Visa/MC cards then you have to get one from some place else and they sometimes have fees associated with them...just an FYI

I am paying the 9yr old his allowance in Disney Dollars so he will have something to spend while we are there. I do remember the Disney Store having gift cards that were refillable because mine was empty and the CM asked if I wanted to add funds to it. Not sure if this is because I got it with a Disney Visa or what the deal was.

the gift cards are refillable at the disney store, yes. the only places you can purchase them and not add to them is online, either through disneyland.com or disneyshopping.com. but that doesn't really help the OP in this particular case.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'm thinking about just taking the cash, and when I hit 100 dollars, buying one of the gift cards. Thank you SO much for all the ideas though! Everyone is so helpful here! :)
