View Full Version : What Week In September Is Best
Rockchalker 02-22-2008, 09:34 PM My dd will be off track the week AFTER Labor Day, September 8 through September 28. What are the recommendations for a 8-10 day trip during that time with 4-5 days at DL being the main consideration. Any huge conferences planned and to be avoided? Cheerleaders? Utah students? Gay Days? Mouse Adventures? World's Largest Day at Disneyland? :D:D
jbtaylor780 02-23-2008, 09:27 AM We always try to go right after Labor Day as the parks aren't nearly as crowded on the weekdays. Park hours are usually reduced as Disneyland closes at 8:00 and CA closes at 6:00. The Fireworks and Fantasmic! are still shown on the weekends so if wanted to see them you would need to plan to be there through a weekend.
We've always enjoyed going in September as we'd rather avoid crazy crowds as we can plan around the reduced park hours.
annieb727 02-23-2008, 04:00 PM Last year we were there September 16-25th - it was WONDERFUL! It wasn't too busy...it was still warm enough for water rides. It was wonderful! This year we're going to go the week after labor day - Sept 4th - 16th. I am expecting it will be great this time too - except for missing Haunted Mansion since we won't be around for the start of the Halloween stuff.
Rockchalker 02-24-2008, 10:24 AM Thanks everyone! Also as a note, I called the Best Western Park Place to see about reservations. Come to find out there is big conference in town the weekend of the 20th and seems to go for 5 days.
disneyfan4ever54 02-24-2008, 08:57 PM We went at the end of Labor Day week (Friday) and stayed into the next week. It was great! There were no long lines at all and the weather was nice and sunny. We would go again during that week.:)
Darkbeer 02-24-2008, 10:42 PM My sources have HalloweenTime starting Friday, September 19th this year (Nothing official yet). (Ending on Sunday, November 2nd)
This event helps bring in locals, and will make the parks a bit busier, but then you get to enjoy Haunted Mansion Holiday and all the decorations and special events.
But last year, the September weekdays after Labor Day were amazingly slow prior to HalloweenTime starting.
kingqueen 3princesses 02-25-2008, 09:38 AM I chose the second week of September because that was the only week HOJO's had their entertainment rate available. I hope that's a good indication!
Jim Dear and Darling 02-25-2008, 10:50 AM I love September at Disneyland.
My favorite is the weekend right after Labor Day. Sooo nice. The weather is still gorgeous and the lines are shorter. Only bummer is the Haunted Mansion being down.
I was there the week of Sep 20th last year, and HMH had just opened. I didn't care for it, but the Halloween decorations were super cute.
amarvel 02-25-2008, 12:51 PM we went Spetmber 17-22 and it was awesome. wish we could go again that time of year because during the weekdays there wasnt anyone there during the mid day. was awesome.

I got it from Sept 4-17th...maybe I got the last one...but then my trip encompasses the entire second week and parts of the first and third....anyway...it should be a GREAT time!! Woo-Hoo!!
Rockchalker 02-25-2008, 05:03 PM Thanks everyone! I think we will be going September 10 through 19. Our little family trip now includes our family of 4, my brother's family of 4 and my parents. My husband is just thrilled! :p However, I think we will be staying at the BWPP while they stay at Residence Inn!
jacandjan 04-06-2008, 07:25 PM We will be there starting Sat. Sept. 6th thru Monday the 8th. Anyone have an idea what the hours usually are for Sat, Sun & Monday during that time of year ?
jacandjan 04-06-2008, 07:31 PM My apoligies for posting a question on this thread, i hav'nt posted for awhile and lost my brain !
minniemom 06-02-2008, 05:18 AM Does anyone know if there is something going on September 20- 23? I was looking at getawaytoday.com and there are a lot of hotels unavailable during that time.

You can always try booking through another site if you need to go that specific weekend.
adriennek 06-02-2008, 08:46 AM Mouse Adventures?
Oh this is such an urban legend.
As big as MA is, it still doesn't adversely affect the attendance at Disneyland. We bring less than 1000 people to the park - it's actually between 500 and 700 and last time we had events in both parks so that's not just to one park but over the entire resort. Also, a large percentage of our participants are local, so we don't affect hotel vacancies and most people only come for the one day.

Soomojogrl 06-02-2008, 10:42 AM RockChalker I think you chose the perfect time to go! We have been several times on these dates and its always wonderful! The lines are relatively short, the weather is still nice, and the parks seem to be full of young families who clear out early so rides are practically walk ons in the evening!

I know that the National Safety Congress has a huge conference at the convention center during that time. Perhaps that is why.
Hope that helps!
Chadsgal 06-02-2008, 05:17 PM EEKKKK!!! :D I am so excited to read all your post on how great the days & week after Labor Day is!!! We leave 9/5 & come home 9/10! I am glad I am going before the poss Halloween decorations will be up too. Last year we went for Mickeys Halloween Trick or Treat while it was very much fun I am looking forward to see just Disneyland w/o all the pumkins this year.

We will be there during this time. I am hoping the crowds won't be to big.
