From Mouseplanet’s Guide:
“The ticket system at Disneyland Tokyo is unique in that they have a sort of split type of multi day passport. This allows you to do one park on the first two days and then park hop for the rest of the time on the passport.
3 DAY MAGIC PASSPORT
For the first two days acts as a 2 day passport with no park hopping.
On Day 3 it acts as a park hopper to both Disneyland and Disneyseas.”
Can someone clarify for me: does this mean the first 2 days I can do Disneyland on Day 1 and DisneySea on Day 2, and then park hop on day 3? Or does it mean I have to do Disneyland or DisneySea exclusively on both Day 1 & 2 and then park hop to either on Day 3?

I am not sure if it is different with the 3 day passport but with the four day passport, you must do the following,
Day 1. TDL *OR* TDS(choice must be specified at time of purchase)
Day 2. TDL *OR* TDS(choice must be specified at time of purchase)
Day 3. Park hopping available
Day 4. Park hopping available
Please read this carefully. It is not that hard to work out.

The 3-day pass works exactly as Brad described (with the obvious exclusion of the second day of park-hopping). It's not that hard to understand, but is a somewhat peculiar way to sell admission media, at least to someone like me who's used to WDW tickets whose unused days are good forever at any park.

The thing I hate the most about the arrangement is that you have to use your days consecutively starting from the first day you use the pass.
That's REALLY unfair in my mind. Who knows, on your fourth day of the ticket it could be raining cats and dogs or some other event may come up that you'd like to check out in Tokyo or WHATEVER. But anyway, it's use it or lose it, and even for a Disney nut like me four days of parks in a row gets tiring (even great parks!).
Now, if they made you use the pass within a week of your first entrance...THAT would be cooler and still serve their purpose of force feeding you the parks as fast as possible in exchange for the rare privilege of park hopping (which is actually not all that important here in Tokyo anyway, you can enjoy each park for a full day unlike Orlando or Anaheim or Paris).
That's strange-I never even considered that.
I guess, once I got to Tokyo, I was just SO excited about the resort there that I COULD NOT imagine NOT going to TDS/TDL for the four days of my pass.
But, if you have doubts about using you pass, simply buy single day passes.

That's fine if you have lots of time, so you can block out your 3 or 4 days and still take a lot of time for Tokyo sightseeing and experiencing the culture. But as I said, for people with limited time, this is just way too restrictive a system just for the privilege of park hopping your last 2 days.
For example, on a rainy day or otherwise not good weather day, there are lots of temples and shrines in the area that can be seen so the day is not wasted. To go into Tokyo Disney on a day like that is foolish, since so much of the entertainment is cancelled and likewise many of the rides are not enjoyable.
The unfairness of the single day passes though, Brad, is then you can NOT park hop, and what I'm saying is that the tough restrictions are too unfair. I have never purchased a three or four day ticket for this reason, probably never will, and it's TS for them because if they were just a LITTLE cooler with the way they sell those multiday tickets it's quite likely that I would have visited TDR much MORE this past year. Wonder how many other folks skipped the multiday for the same reasons...???

p.s. By "TS" I meant, of course, tethered swimming.
I'm sure you all knew that.
Actually, I thought it was "Temples/Shrines".
And WHO the BLEEP would want to visit some boring temple when TDS beckons?!?
Give me the Temple of the Crystal Skull ANY DAY!!!!!!!!!!
