I have tried to book the contemporary with failure. I keep finding the wildreness cabins open. Can you get the boat that takes you to magic kingdom from the cabins? Has anyone ever stayed here and did you like it?

There is a boat that goes from the dock of FW to the MK. (I think it also stops at WL - but dont remember.)
However, I am not sure the cabins are a close walk to the dock - you may have to take a bus to that area of the campground then walk to the dock. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong.)

For the vast majority of cabins it is a really long walk - you'll most likely take the bus to the waterfront unless you rent a golf cart. There are 2 or 3 cabins in the campsite loop closest to the waterfront (100s) but I have no clue how you would go about trying to request them, and I'll bet they'd be really hard to get. The boats run about every 20 minutes from 45 minutes before the park opens through an hour after close, and the last time I was there they were running two boats to just FW and two additional boats to WL.

Last March when we stayed in the cabins, there weren't any within a realistic walking distance. There are 2-3 cabins that are close on the map but we were told those are actually housekeeping cabins, that you can't stay there. We were the "closest" and we had a good speed 15 min walk to the boat launch.
However, the bus system inside FW is really fast and reliable. We did get a golf cart for 3 of the 7 days we were there- primarily for one day in the middle where we had a really really early breakfast res at Chef Mickey's and a very late dinner res too. We didn't want to be tired and trying to walk or navigate the bus.
For the boats, there are ones that go to WL then MK and others that go to Contemporary and MK. Sometimes you get the loop right and go straight to MK, others not.

We stayed there in August.
The travel agent(not Disney) had made a mistake and we had been told that we would be at Wilderness Lodge.
After we got over the initial shock we loved it.
It is the least "disneyfied" resort I have been in.
In the cabin the only Disney article was a picture in the bedroom.
If you do decide to stay in the cabins, you might want to check out getting some grocery items delivered as the cabins have a well equipped kitchen and it was nice to be able to grab a bowl of cereal or a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk.
