Matching shirts for your group/family who's going to the parks? If so, how did you do it? what designs, etc.

I got coordinated shirts from Zazzle for our trip. I picked the color (light blue) and let everyone pick the front of their own shirt. The adults (my sister, BIL, and me) all picked Mickey, Goofy, and Tigger, the boys (my nephews, 10, 8, and 3 at the time) did variations on Pirates.

I was impressed that the shirts were all the same exact color, which is one of the primary reasons I went with Zazzle to get the shirts (3 year old to adults is hard to find in the same dye lots!)

I was a little bummed about the restrictions on what Zazzle would put on the back, since I wanted something 'cute' - so I got the iron-on printer paper for ink jets (I got the Avery brand stuff) and made my own. I had "Storming the Castle for the X Time" where everyone had the appropriate number for their visit. I used a font that was kind of old-west wanted poster (I think it was "Playbill") and I think they turned out pretty cute (and we got lots of comments when we'd walk by people, and from Cast Members, too)

Practice with the iron-ons, though - if you don't get the edges down well it creates problems (but don't hold the iron too long, I singed the shirt on a different project!)

Good luck!

I second the recommendation for Zazzle. We got shirts here this past NYE and like Drince said everyones shirt looked the same but we could get our favorite character on the front. We did have them print on the back becasue we were looking for something pretty basic. The only complaint we had was, I think they treat the shirts with something because the sharpies we used for autographs washed off when we got home. And that did not happen the year before when we used the old Disney.com service (no longer available).

That's a bummer. I wonder if washing them first would have helped?

Also, when selecting the picture, know that anything that appears white on the picture, will show up as 'shirt color' on the finished item. I made sure that the Mickey picture I selected wouldn't look too funky on the blue shirt before I finalized my decision - and it did change what I wanted. You can preview it on your shirt color before you hit the 'order' button.

We made our own for my 18th birthday when we were down in the World. We used the plain old iron on. We eached picked out our own character and on the front my family wrote how they were related to me...

"I am Kristin's dad and today is her 18th birthday!" and on the back they wrote something funny like "And I am only here because I paid for it!"

Everyone stopped us because they thought it was great. Can you believe that there is not one picture of us in the shirts! We were them on the way down and since we were up at 3am we only lasted in the park for about 3 hours so we went back to the room to sleep without any pictures! :(

Moral of story- Take a lot of pictures!

And do it before your ice cream break - ESPECIALLY if the 3 year old has anything with chocolate in it! (Fortunately, his drip was in an area where it didn't show too bad!)

My bah-hum-bug husband said "NO!" when I suggested matching t-shirts for our trip. :p So I'm making us all buttons with a holiday themed Mikey clipart with the year and our names. I'm also doing bright-colored matching luggage tags for our bags - should make gathering them at the airport a bit easier.

I've used Zazzle for other reasons and they were great.

I've made a few- not all matching but several different b-day shirts for my son and a few Princess ones for my daughter.

I used the iron on transfer paper and someone on another board helped me with the design.

If you're using the paper, just remember to reverse your image or your writing will be backwards.

Oh, and if you're doing a full image, especially on a dark shirt, Avery makes a version thats more expensive but 'for dark shirts'. That one you don't reverse - and anything that you don't print out, turns out white, vs shirt color.

I used that when I needed to do an Oregon State mascot on a shirt, because I wanted it to be a Beaver, and not a Nutria! (Very similar animals, except the tail -and Nutria supposedly have orange teeth, and this was on an orange shirt)

My bah-hum-bug husband said "NO!" when I suggested matching t-shirts for our trip My dh is little like that... but now he thinks it might be fun because the other guy who's coming along (we're 2 couples going on part of a business trip, no kids) may freak slightly at the shirts.... which my dh thinks might fun... so now he's all about it because it'll be fun to make our friends wear the shirts - lol. :)

I have not done the shirt thing yet, however, Mrs. GusMan and I plan on getting some MP shirts and have our names stitched into the sleeve via GusMom's embroidery machine.

I think the funniest set of family shirts we ever saw said:

"Im Zack's Mom!"
"Im Zack's Dad!"
"Im Zack's Grandma!"
"Im Zack's Uncle!"
and of course....
"Im Zack!"

They all matched and looked great. Very noticeable in big black letters.

On the last trip, we bought Mickey shirts (from the Disney Store) that somewhat matched. They all had the same design on them (Mickey inside a circle, and said 2003 on it) but they were all different colors.
This year we are going to buy either all of one shirt for the 4 of us (I haven't seen a same design/differeny color option in a few years), or possibly if the Disney store has a another theme with a good variety of characters. But with the second option it may be difficult, I will have to have Mickey, my wife will want Goofy, my son will have to have Donald, and my daughter would probably want Mickey too (but he's mine!).
This Zazzle option might work even better for us. We can all get what we want, and they can be personalized.

I ordered shirts a few years ago from disney shopping web site. They were affordable and cute. They said elswicks summer vacation 2006 and had mickey and the gang with suitcases and dressed in vacation gear. Too cute. I haven't seen anyhting lately like it but you might want to check.

I got nice golf shirts from the Disney shopping web site. They weren't overly "cutsie" in that you could wear them outside WDW. They were plain, with a small embroidered Mickey (or about 30 other characters) on the upper left. You could embroider whatever you wanted. I did "Tina 07" and followed suit with the others. I got a bunch of positive comments about them.

They were inexpensive too--I'm thinking just around $20, including embroidery!

Maybe DHs would wear these as an alternative??

We all have shirts that look like the Incredibles costumes. We have worn them the last 2 times we were in Disney and we get lots of comments. We even met the Incredible characters wearing them and they loved it! We hear little kids saying to their parents, "Look the Incredible family is here!" It helps that I have hair like Mrs. Incredible and my husband is blond like Mr. Incredible. :p

We must have been there the exact same week cause I saw these shirts too!!!!!! Although the shirts I saw were black with the red mousehead and red letters.

My best friend and i are going in april and during highschool were known as Tweedle Dum and Dumber.... I'm gonna have shirts make with the Tweedles on it but Tweedle Nancy and Tweedle Shannon :)

Make sure you stop in at City Hall and ask if the Tweedles are going to be out and about the day you wear those!

I saw t-shirts for $5 last week at the Disney Store in the mall. The sales associate said that they will be having a weekly featured item from now on for great prices like $5 and the t-shirts will featured often. Keep your eyes peeled for those kind of sales and then just add an iron-on to the back (or wherever). It might be hard to get lots of matching t-shirts, but they seemed to have quite a few sizes available. The only bad part was that the child sizes and adult sizes didn't match. Bummer. But, if everyone wants their own charcter, then it might be ok.

Just another idea.

May I be the sole curmudgeon in this thread to say "EEEEWWWWWWW!!!" I'm not really sure why, but I just can't stand the matching tshirt thing. Maybe it's because I'm something of a non-conformist, but the idea of everyone in my party dressed up in canary yellow with THE YOUNG FAMILY emblazoned across the back just makes me a little ill.

But if it makes you and your group happy, go for it. I just wanted to present the grouchy ol' dude side.

I think it's kind of fun (love the Zack family and the Tweedles!) but my boys (including Dh)would revolt. Just not going to happen with us :p

There is really no other destination other than Disney for which I would consider matching shirts- lol :)
