Today I noticed on another board an ad for Swan/Dolphin. I called and we can have a standard room at the Dolphin for $179 which is about $187 w/tax etc. We are not guaranteed a king room, but 2 doubles. Swan/Dolphin was our original first choice but when I tried around Jan 20, no rooms, but now there is.

We currently booked at the POR for $225 or $253 w/tax etc. The savings is about $157 as we'll be there only 3 nights and about 2.5 days. I do not anticipate we'll be hanging out at the hotel much... we're trying to get a taste of the parks in the time we have.

So... would you switch? for the savings? or the location? If I understand correctly you can walk to Epcot from Swan/Dolphin. And I assume for MK you could walk to Epcot and take the monorail or use the bus systems. And of course buses for the other parks.

We are, btw, 2 couples adding a couple Disney days to a business trip. No children. Thanks.

I'm a little confused. Did you quote the entire cost of the two reservations? And you're saying the Dolphin for less than POR? That's a no brainer - go for the Dolphin! Great location, and a much nicer hotel than any of the moderates. And with it being cheaper? No question, Dolphin!!!

Yes, the Dolphin is cheaper. :) $179 at the Dolphin vs $225 at POR. Like I say, the only little down is that we'll most likely get 2 doubles- lol. But we can live with that. A total savings of $157 for 3 nights switching to the Dolphin.

Now... this trip is for my dh and another gentleman to attend the TrueServe buying market at the Orange Cty Convention center the first 2 days of our trip. We're booked at the Hilton Garden Inn at Sea World for the first 2 nights because that's a hotel associated with the convention and will offer bus service (complimentary) to the Convention Center. BUT, if I could figure out how far the Dolphin is from the Convention Center and how much a cab faire would be from the Dolphin to the Convention Center then I might convince dh we could stay at the Dolphin the whole time? Anyone know this info?

Thanks.

It's about a 10 minute drive from the convention center to the Dolphin. If staying at the Dolphin the whole time means that you and the family get to park storm while hubby is conventioning, I think this is a pretty cool option.

Well, I don't think that I can convince dh (and his boss) to do the Dolphin the whole time. We're not renting a car, so they'd have to do cab or car service to the convention center from the Dolphin and by staying at the Hilton Garden Inn for 2 nights they get complimentary shuttles to the convention center.

Even if it didn't mean more park time... I'd be happy to hang at the Dolphin pool for an xtra 2 days and do DTD... but again, I don't get to plan the whole trip. :)

The Hilton Garden Inn doesn't look to exciting. :)
