Hi!!! We have reservations at Akershus for the character dinner at 7:50 pm on Thursday, Feb. 21. This was a last minute trip and that was the ONLY princess character meal I could get. I have read some pretty bad reviews for Akershus...does anyone have anything positive to say to cheer me up? And, do you think we'll be done in time to see Illuminations?

Thanks!

Hi, I am sorry I have nothing positive to say since I have not been there and will not be until our trip next week. But I would suggest that you can back once or twice a day and see if you can find other reservations. I called today now that we are finally locked in to a dining plan, which for us just came available last night. We leave next week. I called this morning, I got a meal at the Cinderella's Royal Table, Chef Mickey's, Spirit of Aloha, Hoop Dee Doo Review, Crystal Palace and Fantasmic Package at Hollywood & Vine. Not bad for one week short of going, I thought I would get nothing and to get so many and some of the ones everyone states you have to book 6 months in advance was amazing to me. I would try again if I was you because the times may open up for someplace else.

Akershus used to be a pretty interesting Norwegian buffet, but now that they've gone princess I haven't heard too many good things about them. If you want to be sure to finish in time for IllumiNations, just show up 20 minutes or so early. They'll usually seat you early, and dining there shouldn't take more than an hour.

Good luck!

I ate there in January. The food was okay, but I wouldn't probably do it again. I went mainly for the food because the menu items sounded yummy. The execution wasn't that great. The character interaction was fine. You do a posed photo with one princess as you enter, then there is a group of princesses who come around to the tables as you eat. I saw Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella and Aurora. You should have time to eat and see Illuminations, but I agree that you might want to arrive early so that you can be seated as early as possible.
