If it is from a cast member they have a special line to call and make reservations on. Or when you make your reservations and it asked for the billing address put in yours and when it asks for a mailing address put in your friends, but then have her send it to you or bring it by for you.

The special coupons with a PIN on them are targeted to individuals. If you attempt to use one of these special reservations, you could suddenly find out, at the time you check in, that since you are not eligible you are being charged full rack rate, and "please pay right now".
What CF said. Those PIN codes are non-transferable. You can call CRO and ask if there's a pin code attached to your name but it must be attached to YOUR name-not anyone else's.

What are these "special coupons" you speak off? I would like a special coupon! We've decided to stay off-property for our 10 Anniversay/Birthday blowout in October because I just can't justify the cost of a room on Disney property anymore. The bus argument doesn't count--we don't use them. For 40% off though, I would reconsider...

These are computer generated offers.
And for our last couple of years before we moved down here, except if we were attending an event at WDW (and wanted to stay at the event Resort), we would stay at the Marriott World Center. We would get the Government rate which included full breakfast daily and since I am an elite member of the Marriott Rewards program we would always get a very nice room in the main tower above the 20th floor.

I haven't gotten a pin code in about 3 years, and all of a sudden I got an email which needs to be used this Spring (way too soon for me), although it has my last name wrong... not sure if I'd even be able to use it??? AND I got the 40% room only in the mail (which I am seriously considering... very seriously!) I hope this isn't the last of them. I didn't even realize the mailed one was a pin code until I read it more closely last night. Makes me want to use it even more!

Thanks for the info! I've often wondered why we haven't gotten any "perks" being frequent visitors to the parks. We've stayed on property 30 times over the past ten years. Its seems that they would see that there are some folks that frequent the parks and it would seem beneficial to get these folks back as often as possible. We spend a lot of money when we go and a little "give-back" would be nice. I'm not saying "free" but a discount would be great or just a few park tickets.
When I complained this past Summer and we received four free days, we promptly made arrangements for October and drove the 11 hours.
But now the wife has made it clear that we won't be gong in June this year and we'll have to wait until October. We're considering staying off-property.

Not only are the PIN code promos spcifically for the person named on the offer, but they are often limited to certain resorts. I've had clients who wanted to use theirs for a moderate resort stay, since that is what they always chose, but their PIN code offer was only for selected deluxe resorts.
These are very targeted, most often for people to try a higher level resort or to encourage a stay if you haven't been there in a while, and are often targeted to certain areas of the country during slow booking periods for that area.

I got an offer in the mail this past fall for select moderate or value. It was a good rate but it was impossible for us to use it with school going on. I figured they sent it because we haven't been back since 2005 but I order the planning videos every year. They know I'm interested and they are trying to entice me!
