My sister in law has a friend who has worked at Disney for a few years. She has invited us down to visit her and has said she would get us a cast members discount on hotel food and park tickets. Does anyone know how this works? Thanks!

When we were at Hollywood Studios after New years this year, we had dinner at Sci-Fi and the couple who shared our car paid for dinner with a 50% off coupon that the gentleman said he received as a gift package from Disney for his Holiday gift. He was an employee but I can't remember where he said he worked.

Doesn't really answer your specific question but I was pleased that the employees at least get some cool perks. My company keeps phasing out the cool holiday gifts, we are down to basicly a one day sale at the store I work at, which is pitiful.:(

I've done this a few times at DL, but I'm not really sure how it would work at WDW. However, when I asked my friend who works for Disney about getting a discount when we went to WDW, she found out she could only get us the discount if she were with us. At DL, the cast members get a voucher for the hotel discount. There are 2 rooms allowed per voucher. When you make your reservations at the hotel there, they needed the department number that the cast member belonged to, and then you had to present the voucher at check-in. The cast member also doesn't have to be with you to get the discount at DL.

There are also 2 ways that I've got into the parks at DL when using a cast member's help. The first way was to be personally signed in at the gate by the cast member. The other way was to get a ticket that was given to the cast member (they get so many per year), and then the cast member gave it to me so they wouldn't have to be with us.

I realize things can be very different between Florida and California, but that discount for hotels is really great. My friend is going herself to WDW in the spring, and using her discount she gets about 50% off. I'm sure your friend can help you with all of the details on how to do it in Florida.

I am going to WDW for the first time in 10 days because we have a friend who works down there. To get the hotel discount she has to make the reservation for you and you can stay in any disney hotel for 40% off the room rate if your friend is not staying with you, if your friend is staying in the room with you or in another room at that hotel during the same days than you get 50% off. My friend will not be staying with us, she prefers to say with her roommates. The information about the tickets in sound correct to me, my friend got 6 admission tickets, each ticket allows 3 people in per day, she has to be with us when we go in but then we can park hop all day without her. After those 6 tickets she states she can still get people in each day using her cast member ID pass but she stated we could not park hop or leave the park and return (unless she was with us). As for the food, she get discounts on her food, but she stated she would have to be with us to get the discount 20 or 25% off depending on which resteraunts. She did not mention any thing else about the food. She can get a discount on other things also, like Princess and Pirates or Typhoon but I have not asked her to do so yet. And she can get hotels off property for a discounted rate also, but we did not ask how much that would be.

As I said I am going in 10 days I can give you more information after that if you would like.

Oh, for the hotel, after my friend made the reservation through the disney team portal and got me the discount she then has to go to the hotel within 10 days of my arrival, but definately before I arrive and show the hotel her id and pass, then once I arrive she does not have to be with me. So today is the day I have to call her back and remind her that I am coming on the 25th, so she can go over to the hotel and give all the important information so that the discount is granted. Otherwise my reservation states that the room rack price will take effect on check in if the cast member has not previously showed proper id.

Unfortunately since Disney sold off the Disney Stores, employees are not considered "Cast Members" anymore. I worked there many years ago and we got some great perks, but now they aren't considered Disney employees.

I am going down on monday. My friend works there and he gets me in for free everytime. He has to be with me when we get to the gates because he has to show an ID. He is allowed to get 3 people in 12 times per year. Everytime he gets just me in it still counts as 3 people, remember each pass is for 3 people. They are good for park hopping and fastpass. If you are a manager you can get people in an unlimited amount of times per year. He also gets a 40% discount on merchandise and food from thanksgiving through christmas and one 50% coupon for food which we are using monday.

i work at disneyland and we get the 3 sign ins 16 times a year... weird. anyways, for the discount the cast member needs to be there because everytime you make a purchase you have to have them slide your id.
