View Full Version : Ever do the "castle rope drop" after a Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast?

If the Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast ends before 9:00, have you ever gone directly from the castle to Fantasyland at "rope drop time"? I have heard that this can be done. Have you done this? I have an 8:10 am ADR for a CRT breakfast. Do you think that it can be done if the ADR starts at 8:10?
I'm a WDW newbie and I have no idea how this would work.
Also, is there much difference between the CRT breakfast and the CRT lunch? Is one much better than the other, or is it mostly just a matter of opinion?
TIA

I have been to both the lunch and the dinner at CRT. They were both really incredible. I don't think you will be dissapointed.
I don't know about the rope drop, but I'm doubting that you would be out of CRT by 9am with an 8:10am ADR. Just my guess.

We had breakfast at the CP once, I think with an 8AM ressie, and were done in time for rope drop. CRT is more of a set program, though, not just the characters doing the rounds, and it takes longer. You go through the picture line, then upstairs, and it's a served meal, not a buffet, and they do a little ceremony. It's going to be over an hour. We've done both breakfast and lunch at CRT, and both are good.

So there is characters at lunch also? Why do I recall one meal not having characters? Am I right? I know my trip is coming up soon, but I am going to call and just see if they have a lunch availible!!

CRT has the princess characters for breakfast and lunch, but not for dinner. If you want to see Cinderella at dinner, you go to 1900 Park Fair at the Grand Floridian hotel.

Wait a minute.....I have an ADR for I think 450 pm, does that mean there won't be any characters or Cinderella? Then what am I paying $130 for??? And, is it a buffet or plated?
I think if it is called CRT, then Cinderella should always be there!
Also, what is this rope drop thing?

Unless things have changed-it's the Fairy Godmother presiding at dinner. Plated in think-that's why it takes a bit longer than a buffet.
I've only done a general rope drop-not from CRT-but it's where the CM hold a rope(hence the name), and walk the public to an area or attraction. Keeps the hordes(that's us-the public) from running ahead of the CM's and keeps opening somewhat under control. I've done them from the general gate area(ie main street of whatever park you're in) but also in the AK itself-from what was Donald's to EE-and the one from Epcot to Soarin' was fun.

I have also done the CP and then the rope drop. In my opinion, this is the only way to do Dumbo. I stood at the castle edge waiting for the rope holding us back to drop. Meanwhile, back on mainstreet there was a rope held for those crowds. So when the rope drops it is like a funny version of the start to a marathon- you can only go so fast in a herd and then people peal off with their agendas. Mine was to get onto Dumbo with less then a 10 min wait!. Actually, we were the second load up and from that high point I could see the stream of humanity from the mainstreet rope drop. It was fun! Then we got a fast pass to Winnie the Pooh, jogged through Its a small world, caught the 3D movie and went on from there. All and all one of my favorite tips for beating the crowds. However, if the princesses are a must, maybe you could try and move your reservations earlier? Or just go with the flow- you will have fun no matter what!

When the park opens, there are, literally ropes within the park which a CM will take down, so you can access the rides. If you have a breakfast ressie, you can get to the restaurants, but can't get right up to the rides, until the rope drops, at the same time the gates open up front. You are at a great advantage if you are standing at the rope when it is taken down, because you have a head start to get onto your favorite ride, and, you can probably get another ride in, before the crowds who are at the gate get through security, rent their strollers, and make their way back to the rides. About four years ago, while we were down there, I was able to make a reservation for breakfast at the CP, before park opening. We were right at the line for rope drop, got the kids on the first spin of their first ride, and they got to do at least six rides, before we had to leave the park, at about 10:30, to catch our bus to the airport. They were happy and did not mind leaving since they got so much riding in, with no long lines.
As far as your reservation, I would double check at the dining number to see if you are booked for lunch or dinner, since it is an in-between time. It certainly is reasonable to assume you get to see Cinderella at any meal at her castle, but I think a lot of people get confused. We were once on the hotel monorail and I got into a conversation with a woman, who had a cute little girl dressed in a princess costume. She commented on my two little girls, also dressed in princess costumes. I said we were having dinner with Cinderella, and she said they were also. The monorail stopped at the Grand Floridian, and we got off, and I saw her confused expression when the doors closed, and they stayed on. A few minutes later it struck me that they must have been going to the MK, and were going to be, unpleasantly surprised when Cinderella and the other princesses were not there. The meals at CRT are plated.

I feel like calling it CRT is somewhat misleading then:( So, where were you doing dinner with your princesses that you were seeing Cinderella and were there other princesses there?

It's still in Cinderella's castle. It used to not be ANY characters at all for non-breakfast ADRs, so many view adding 'anything' to lunch and dinner was a positive.

Well, it better be pretty spectacular for $131.00.

There is a Cinderella character dinner (and, I think, breakfast), at 1900 Park Fair at the Grand Floridian. This character meal only features characters from Cinderella. When we were there, the mice were featured characters, and my younger daughter was not pleased and would have nothing to do with giant rodents. I understand that they now have the stepsisters, which sounds fun, so we may go back.

I will have to check into that. Thanks for the info.
We are doing Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Mother's Day and CRT, and I would hate to book two meals in a day, but maybe I will book that one just for my daughter and I for breakfast. it's just going to be her and I in the mroning, we are sparing her dad from the boutique.
I'm kind of new with all of this, if we eat there for breakfast is there transportation from there to MK. I might have the husband just drop us off there for a girl's morning.

Just take the hotel monorail, which stops right at the MK. It's a quick ride, and fun.
