We are thinking of going again this April with a 4 1/2 year old DD and 21 month old DS. He is very active and likes to run and climb and we're not sure if we are crazy to go at this time with him. We're also not sure that he is fond of characters. He likes rides, but doesn't like waiting for them to start.

Of course, he is FREE. And, DD LOVES Disney as do we. My mom would be going with us and we have either a family suite at ASMusic or cabin at Fort Wilderness. The park seems packed for our week (April 23), for some reason, and we are afraid the lines might be too long too. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated! I really really want to go, but I'm wondering if it will be too stressful with DS this year.

We will be going around that same time. Its supposed to get less crowded as the week goes on.

As for your little one, the biggest thing to remember is that when he needs a break - give it to him. When he wants to run around, try activities that help him burn off a little energy. Places like Pooh's Playful Spot and the child area near the exit to Splash Mountain are real good options at the MK. (As an example.) In essence, your trip will revolve a lot around his needs and desires. While that may seem like a challenge, you will soon pick up on his likes and dislikes and you can adapt accordingly.

Child care centers will be your friend! :)

Use FP's and Rider Swaps whenever possible and applicable.

Packing some light snacks will also help keep everyone from becoming one of the Seven Dwarfs. (aka : Grumpy.)

Oh, and you are not crazy for going with him at this age. GusJr went three times before he turned two.

Gus, I think I need you to call my wife.

I keep trying to tell her all those same things. Our son is 14 months as of yesterday and I don't want to wait til he's 5 (which she has declared is the age to start taking children for some reason.) Of course that's mostly because I can't wait another 3 and a half years to go back so I suppose that could be called selfish . . . :~D

I think I'm going to write your advice on my hand before going home tonight so I can recite it over dinner!

Pro's and con's on this suggestion but I will give it and you can always leave it if you do not like it. My granddaugther is very active also and have all the same problems, run, jump and not standing still in line, but we have been to DL 3 times since she was born a very tiny preemie at 3 1/2 lbs. and now at 2 1/2 we will be going to WDW next week. We find the little backpack that looks like a dog that is really a harness is great because it allows her out of the stroller, and not have to hold our hand and she is able to move but not get to far away. She has never giving us a problem wearing it and she only wears it at DL. A few other tips that I have is toys that are active but can be lost and not giving a second thought about, it took us a little while to figure out what to give her to play with in line and we found pipe cleaners a good thing because they are so cheap that it does not matter if she losses a lot of them. But she can twist and pull and bend and put together and pull apart and just keep working on them. But she can drop them, lose them and throw them and not hurt anyone. My granddaughter likes them and I found they keep her busy, but try to make sure that you save them for the lines, my kids continued to give them to her to sit her still or while we walked or for any reason and we found that they did not do the trick them so now we save them for the lines and wait time. Hope that helps.

Our harness is not the backpack type, so I hope it will work the same. We used it last summer when he first started walking, and he kept falling. Hopefully he will be better now that he is older. The idea of pipecleaners is a good one! Thanks!
