I have a reservation for Spoodles at 8am on August 11th 2008. I am staying at the Caribbean Beach with no car. What is the best way to get to the Boardwalk in time? I don't think walking the 4/5 mile is an option (has anyone done it?).

I suggest taking a taxi. Resort-to-resort is difficult on Disney transportation, and almost always requires a connection at a park or Downtown Disney. Disney "discourages" walking between resorts (or anywhere, really) by not having sidewalks along the highways. With a taxi, you would be sure of getting there in time for your ADR.

I agree - early morning ADRs at a resort that's not your own are when a taxi is the best (only?) option.

Thanks for the replies. There actually are crosswalks and sidewalks on the road between Caribbean Beach and the Boardwalk according to Google Maps and Street View (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=&ie=UTF8&ll=28.365036,-81.547179&spn=0.00161,0.001896&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=28.364602,-81.547197&cbp=1,345.5112099035178,,0,-6.292835337935565), but I think I'll follow your advice and take a cab. Last time I was in Orlando it was $3.50 for the first mile and $2 a mile after that, so I'm looking at $7 with tip even if the cabbie takes the long route. Not bad at all.

Do the local taxis do reservations, or do you just have to call before you want to leave? What is the typical lead time?

I've never had to call ahead for a taxi - just go to the main exit and voila. BUT, with Caribbean Beach, that would mean making your way to Old Port Royale, which can be a walk (depending on where you are). I would just call that mornign and I bet they'd dispatch one from Old Port Royale and you'd be on your way in less than 5 minutes. (But plan for 15 :D).

I wasn't sure we'd get a taxi wo a phone call first, so when we wanted to cab over to Pop from CBR I called ahead. Think there's a button on your resort phone labeled "transportation" or something like that. Taxi was waiting by the time we made the walk from Trinidad North to OPR. $10 including tip and there were 3 of us-took 5 min. Waay better than the resort-park-resort 45 min.+ that we were facing with Disney transportation.
