Thomas and I decided to spend our Valentines at Disneyland this year!

It was a pretty big deal because I leave for Mali, Africa in July for the Peace Corps and we'll be long distance for the next two years!!! ACK! We really wanted to get some good quality time in for Valentines. (We celebrated early because he's leaving for Florida for a quick trip on the 14th and besides, our DAP are blocked Valentine's weekend).

We decided to book a room at the Disneyland Hotel, our first time together and his first time ever. I got a little worried because it's gotten sketchy reviews recently, but it was absolutely AWESOME! We had the AP5 rate, and we got upgraded when we arrived :) I hadn't stayed at the DLH since I was a kid (i'm 25, so read as abot 12 years ago or more) and it was still as great as it was when I was a kid. We had an amazing room, clean and perfect, and we had a great time hanging out at the Lost Bar and playing really outdated arcade games :) LOL.

Our Saturday at the park was beautiful and sunny and we walked the park, ate A TON (corndogs, ice cream, etc....), people watched, Astroblasted, ate at Cafe Orleans for the first time (yummy! we even got a patio table next to the walkway!), and played more arcade games in tomorrowland. Our stop at Pooh Corner included Thomas making a keychain for me with turtles and his nickname for me, "goob." It was pretty cute and funny. Around 11pm we left Disneyland (after riding my childhood favorite Alice and Wonderland which Thomas barely fits in at 6'5", but he's a trooper) and got a couple martinis at the lost bar and sat and talked and had an altogether wonderful and romantic evening.

The next morning we slept in (keep in mind we're locals, so getting to the park early isn't a big deal to us. Additionally Thomas isn't a big "rider" so the rush is even less, no lines to people watch!) and had a lesiurely and delicious breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen. So much fun! After checking out and stowing our bags at the bell desk we walked back to Disney to check out our pictures on our photopass (we ended up buying one in front of the castle) and play the maddening pinball game in Tommorrowland (it's a pirates one, and so fun, we were addicted). Afterwards we shopped in the park and in downtown disney and held hands (ahh we're so cute). Thomas had promised to buy me some bath balls at Basin as part of my V-day present (Basin is the most amazing bath store ever) and I was choosing ONE OR TWO, when he walked up with a gift basket of 30 he insisted on spoiling me with. It was very sweet :)

After perusing the stores we headed over to Medieval times for a fun dinner and then it was home from there.

My best valentines ever :) I didn't want to go home :( Silly work getting in the way of a nice LONG vacation!

Thank you so much for your report...we are here right now...Saturday crowds about drove me crazy hehe...I am glad that you were able to enjoy your time together.

Your time in Africa will be up before you know it, and you will be back in sunny Disneyland with your sweetheart again...what a beautiful memory the two of you made!

Blessings to you and yours,
Christine

My wife and will be at Disneyland for our 22nd anniversary this weekend.
We made the foolish mistake of getting married on Valentines day. So long ago.
We will be at the parks, without the kids. I'm hoping we find some special magic, telling them it's our anniversary and all.
Actually, we don't care. We will just be happy to be there.

What a nice way to spend time with your sweetheart. My DH and I went to Disneyland at the end of our honeymoon and it was just the greatest. Now we haul along 1 - 3 kids and although it's fun, it's not the same as being there with just your sweetheart!

Happy anniversary Dznydad!
