I have been to Disneyland many many times but I've never caught a ride on the Fire Engine. Can anyone tell me if you need a special ticket to ride the Fire Engine? What time is the first one-way ride? How often does this ride operate. Please help me if you can. Thank You!

You don't need any kind of ticket. I don't know what time the first ride is, but usually not too long after the park opens. You'll see it out at the curb in front of city hall, waiting for passengers. Its a one way ride down to the castle, or you can catch it down at the castle and ride to city hall.

The Main Street Vehicles normally operate from opening until about 90 minutes prior to the first parade fo the day.

They do stop running for certain events, usually around 11 AM and Noon for Characters and Bands. They also can cut back or stop running the vehicles during heavy crowds for safety reasons.

The Pick Up locations for the Fire Engine is in front of City Hall and near the Plaza Gardens Entrance at the Hub.

These suggestions are a great help. I really would like my DD (5yrs) experience this ride. I'll also keep my eyes out for the other rides like the horse-drawn. Thanx a bunch!:D

Yes, there are four: the fire engine, horseless carriage, horse-drawn streetcar, and the omnibus. I read in one of the Disney guides that the fire engine and horseless carriage are round-trip, but the horse-drawn streetcar and omnibus are only one-way. Don't know if this is still correct, as I have only been on the horse-drawn streetcar. We rode it from the City Hall area down to the hub....one-way trip. ("Bert" chatted with us while we were waiting to ride, which was quite entertaining:))

All Main Street Vehicles are one-way, but of course, once you disembark, there is nothing stopping you from re-boarding, or taking a different type of vehicle back the other way.

My daughter and I recently took the horse-drawn carriage, and had the Dapper Dans ride along, singing the whole way. It was about 11:30AM on a Thursday.

A truly magical moment!

If you time it so you're the first ones on the fire truck, your son can sit in back next to the bell. He can clang it all the way up Main Street if he wants! I have a wonderful picture of my daughter doing this when she's about 4. They usually give the kids a fire department badge sticker as well.

If you ride the double decker bus, I think the best place to try to sit is on top, in the front row that faces forward. You can see everything from up there, and it gives you a whole new perspective!

I just rode the fire engine last Sunday from Main Street up to the hub. It was wonderful! The CM driver told us that the trip is 998 feet 6 inches and it obtains speeds of 5 miles per hour!

It's good to know about the times the vehicles run. A funny thing happened to my friend and I a couple of trips back...We were both waiting at the boarding area with our cameras at the ready. The fire engine was disembarking passengers in front of the Emporium and we were in perfect position to get a shot of it turning and coming straight toward us! Much to our surprise, the vehicle went straight and exited through the gate by the fire station! We both started laughing and didn't really understand why that had happened. Turned out it was the last ride before the afternoon parade.

It's a lot of fun to ride down Main Street! I also got some wonderful pictures of the castle in the background with the storefronts on the sides and our driver pointing the way!

Enjoy!

I love the vehicles on Main Street. I think they are an extra touch that really add to the ambiance. We took the the horseless carriage down Main Street one day on our last trip and it was fun and saved my aching feet! Definitely a must-do now on my trip agendas.

I think the main street vehicles are one of the things that suffered when they went from ticket books to the current admission policy. You always had lots of A tickets left over, and they were an easy way to use them!

I agree. The Main Street "rides" are one of my favorite things to do in DL.
