View Full Version : Comfortable beds/rooms at Pop Century?
lllmtz 02-10-2008, 09:06 AM I am contemplating making my 4th trip to WDW this summer, and I would be staying in a Disney-owned resort for the first time. I am leaning toward Pop Century, which looks fun and the room size will be fine for myself and my teenage son. Can anyone tell me if the beds are comfortable? I'm not super high-maintenance or anything, but I am miserable if I have to sleep on a rock-hard mattress. Any feedback from those of you who've stayed at Pop within the last couple of years would be much appreciated!
I suppose I could go on TripAdvisor and read reviews, but I would rather hear from fellow-die-hard Disney fans. Thanks!
steamboatpookster 02-10-2008, 09:24 AM The beds at all the value resorts are rock-hard. If you have trouble sleeping on this type of mattress or have back problems, I vote no.
I have a very hard time with the beds at Pop. In fact, the next time we go I am bringing my own foam bed topper with me. The beds are horrible.

Yikes. Have you stayed at any of the moderates? Maybe the beds a little better there...

Yes, the beds are a bit more comfortable there. The really nice beds, however, are at the deluxe resorts. We stayed at POFQ last July and the beds were acceptable.

Agreed, the beds are better at the moderates.
They are even better so at the deluxe resorts.
My vote for the resort with the best beds: Beach Club!! Wonderful beds!

Yep-the beds at Pop were horrid. Really, really hard. Room size was small for me(Mom) and two teenage sons. Didn't like the room noise either-bathrooms, doors opening and closing and especially how you couldn't adjust the temperature settings.
What I liked-fun, funky feel with those icons and the common areas. The food court had more choices than the mod we had just stayed at. Icees, Pop cheesecake and twinkie tiramisu. Plus, pizza delivery in a vw bus-and the golf carts were themed as 57 chevys.
Beds at CBR were really comfortable; resort seemed quiet. Never heard our neighbors ever-even though the resort was full. Liked the standard amenities at a mod-room curtain between dressing area and room; coffee pot and fridge.

Yes--I forgot about that. It seems that we are always sandwiched between two families that are throwing parties or are constantly in and out of their rooms at all hours of the night. I never seem to get any sleep! What's with people slamming their doors on the inside latch so they won't get locked out when they go get ice (while talking EXTRA loud on their cell-phone)? Or there are kids running up and down the outside corridor for no other reason than to...run up and down the corridor!
The more I think about it, the more I think we might stay off-property. I love Disney, but man I hate the value resorts. I don't think the price is much of a value either. We don't ever use the buses, so the steep price for crappy beds and free-of-charge-noise levels isn't worth it.
It seems my October dilemma has a dilemma.
danyoung 02-11-2008, 07:58 AM Just to throw another opinion into the works, I've stayed at the Pop a few times, and have never had any problem with neighbor noise. And I find the beds quite comfortable. To me honest, I don't really notice that much difference between the value beds and the moderate beds.
wishiwasthere 02-12-2008, 12:28 PM I think Pop needs a little refresher. I have stayed there 3 times with the last time being the first week of November. I never had a problem until the last time when I felt all the springs in the bed. I tried not to move when I was going to sleep because if I did the bed would squeek really loud and I would get poked by a spring.
mcky fan 02-12-2008, 12:36 PM I stayed at the POP last year with my mom and we didn't have any problems with noise or the beds. The beds are quite comfy. We stayed at the CBR a few years ago and there was no difference in the beds between the two resorts. Will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge in November...will see if they are that much better at a Deluxe.
