Just was curious what everyone's favorite place to dine at using the Dine plan? Best kid places? best adult place?

Interesting question, because it really does make a difference whether or not I'm using it. Being another type A personality here (there's lots of us on Mousepad, aren't there?) I work to get the most for my money. Therefore, with children paying the kids' dining plan prices, buffets are the best deal, since they can eat as much as they want from anywhere on the buffet. For adults, however, I find I can get a better value by choosing non-buffet table service, where by choosing the most expensive items on the menu I can get the most for my money. Sounds awful, doesn't it? When it started, my DH and I loved the DDP, because we almost always used the same dining pattern on every day of our trip: a snack for breakfast, counter service for lunch, and table service for dinner. The appetizers and desserts were bonuses with the plan, since we didn't usually splurge for them before. Now we're tired with all the planning you have to do beforehand. The novelty has worn off. Besides, we LOVE the buffets, and I always felt guilty using DDP credits for buffet dinners. Isn't that stupid? So we're officially done with it. Taking away the appetizer and tip was the last two nails in the coffin.

I'll just list my favorite restaurants, in order:

Boma for dinner
Cape May Cafe Clam Bake Buffet
California Grill
the new Tusker House, lunch or dinner
Tokyo Dining for dinner
Kona Cafe for dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner

and we love Pepper Market and Sunshine Seasons for counter service, any time of day.

It truly is a matter of personal preference. What atmosphere/type of food appeals to you and your travel party? 'Cause you're going to get all types of "this is the best" responses.

Now, if you're talking about "value" re the dining plan, then I'd say that it would be going to the most expensive place and ordering the most expensive things on the menu. But, is that what you'd eat regularly? Or, the place that you'd be "happiest"?

Some of the "best" places on the dining plan take 2 credits-Cali Grill, Brown Derby, Yachtsman Steakhouse. Definitely 'wow' places from what I hear-but maybe not the "best" value-as they use up credits faster-but maybe worth it if it's some place you wouldn't try otherwise.

See...you'd have to pay me to get me to go back to the Clam Bake at Cape May-except for the desserts(THOSE were yummy). Felt it was a waste of credits. But others love it(see above). I loved Boma-but others feel it's blah or are underwhelmed. Both buffets but completely different experiences.

I felt Le Cellier was a great use of credits and a place that I would have said we couldn't "afford" otherwise-but to others it's just a "steakhouse".

Counterservice-I loved Wolfgang Pucks Express-"real" silverware and plates and they bring your food to your table. Dinner for 3 was $50-60-not including the wine that I had. Food was good and plentiful-with lots of choices. Felt it was a really good use of a counterservice credit-but it doesn't float the boat of others.

That said....of what I've tried

1. Le Cellier
2. Rose and Crown
3. Boma
4. Raglan Road
5. Prime Time 50's

I would never use the credits for any sort of breakfast, it's not worth it. I dined at Tutto Italia 3 times last September and loved it. It's not a restaurant I could see paying cash for. But on the DDP, it was well worth dining at.

Normally I'd also say Le Cellier, but I wasn't that thrilled with either meal I had there in Sept.

Teppan Edo, Raglan Road, maybe Chefs de France..there just aren't enough restaurants where I'd say they were a great value anymore on the DDP. I love Boma, but you'd still have to make up a fair bit in counter service and a snack to make it worth doing.
