Well, the Del Mar Fair (San Diego County) is open, and yes, there is a Crazy Mouse (you might know it as the Mulholland Madness) this year. But the attraction I want to talk about, is, well, different. And hopefully are fine friends at Disney don't decide to copy this one. By the way, this is the 100% truth!!!
This new attraction is located on the Avenue of the Palms, across from the Don Diego Clock tower.
The Charmin Restroom.
Sponsored by Proctor and Gamble.
When you first enter this area, there is a "meet and greet" with the Charmin Bear, who seems quite popular with the little ones. They have to separate show areas, which they segregate by sexes (what a surprise). You pick the appropriate door and enter. (This attraction was previous a recently built old fashion restroom about three years old.) They made modifications. When you enter, and I will be talking about the "Male" side, I think they would not have appreciated if I checked out the other side;), you first notice a LOT of signage, the first area is the Urinals, and every wall had LARGE Charmin signs, then you go to the Stall area, which has signage/ads on every door. One stall is reserved for the little ones, even has the height requirement ruler on the door. They placed blue bunting on top of the stalls as decoration, and there is a full time attendant to make sure the place is neat and clean, when I walked in, he was spraying deodorizer in the stall area. Once you open the stall door, you see another big Charmin sign, a shelf they added to the back wall to hold bags, etc, and a sign saying "The Best Seat in the House". As you turn around and shut the door, you will find another ad, this time in both english and Spanish mentioning the virtues of Charmin Ultra. And of course, the toilet paper is Charmin Ultra. After completing your business and leaving the Stall area, you enter the washbasin area. This area has blue sink "Curtains" which of course have the Charmin logo on them, and the soap dispenser has a sign next to it informing you that you are using "Safeguard Antibacterial" soap, and along with the mirrors, they have placed a TV Monitor that runs Charmin commercials in a loop (Video and sound), again, English and Spanish. And after washing your hands and watching commercials, you get Bounty paper towels to dry your hands. (And of course signage to make sure you know you are using Bounty.) And as you leave this thrilling attraction, you go thru an electric eye that is counting the amount of attendance this place is having. And as a special treat, you walk back thru the meet and greet area, this time getting to see the back side of the Charmin Bear.
Who knows, could this be the next attraction brought to DCA????
I will close with the official wording from the Fair's program.
"Don't forget to visit the Charmin Restroom at the Fair. Try Charmin at the Fair. Then try it at home. Comfy Clean!! cha...cha...cha.Charmin!!!
