I plan to go see the show Cirque de la Mer at Sea World, CA. next weekend. Is it a night show? Does anyone know the times? Any info would be helpful, thanks :D

Hi tiggergrl -- Alex and I went to Sea World two weeks ago and had a chance to enjoy this show. Cirque de la Mer is kind of like Cirque du Soleil -- that is, acrobatic people dressed up in interestingly colored spandex outfits performing a show. I won't give away the plot, but we enjoyed it greatly. The show is performed several times a day -- take a look at the schedule on the map handout you get when you enter the park, and it will tell you when the shows will be happening.

Our impression is that they schedule the shows in such a way that you can see them one at a time with short breaks in between. We were pleasantly surprised when we discovered that we enjoyed it so much that we spent the entire day there, up until park closing.

We went on a weekend, and the park had special shows at night, including some Cirque de la Mer-themed shows that were basically short dance-and-acrobatic pieces held in various areas of the park. They were not the same as the main show however, and as far as I could tell, were not performed by the same people.

Have a great time!

I have to agree, Cirque de la Mer is our favorite show to see. Also, I believe that every night until Labor Day the park is open late. The fireworks are pretty good, too. Enjoy!

One big suggestion on seeing this really cool show, get to the stadium for the show about 10-15 minutes before the show time (even sooner if you can) Sit in the lower half of the stadium, if you sit in the upper sections, you won't be able to see some parts of the show. They have signs in the upper half warning of obstructed views durings some portions of the show. So get there early to get a seat down below.

Ah, so the shows are during the day and night. That's great cause I'm not sure if I'll spend the day there, or just show up at night. Anyways, thanks you guys for the helpful information. :)

Cirque de la Mer is the daytime show that they have in the harbor stadium. They've had that show for a year or two. I saw the show when it first premiered, and I have to say that I really disliked it and was bored. I'm an AP at Sea World, and I've not gone back since on any of my subsequent trips.

This year, they started a new entertainment presentation called Mystique de la Mer, which is basically the Cirque characters on land. I've not seen them yet but have heard about some of the shows. We're actually going down to Sea World this Saturday. I expect I'll take a gander or two at them, but from what I've heard, they're not worth taking my time away from my bears and killer whales.

YMMV.

I'm with cstephens on this one... despite the hard work of the performers, I found myself fairly bored for most of the somewhat predictable show. One exception would be a pair of incredibly strong gymnasts - but that's only two people and about five minutes of the whole thing.

I've never seen Cirque du Soleil so I cannot compare the two. For all I know, Cirque would bore me too :)
