Nice to see it did so well this weekend and now they're extending it. Did anyone else catch it this weekend? We went opening night - every show was sold out. It was a lot of fun! It was like a concert - people were singing along and clapping. And of course everyone was decked out in their best Hannah gear.

We saw it on Saturday, and I posted on the Last Movie Seen thread. The movie was fine, the kids enjoyed it well enough. As parents, we tried to get in on the enthusiasm, and I was singing along. Afterwards, the thrill was gone, pretty quickly. Yesterday, my nine-year old indicated that she thought it was kinda lame that so many people were screaming at the screen "It's, like, just a movie, they can't hear you!" I have mixed feelings about the HM hype. Sure, she's cute, talented, charming, and is a good role model (which I figure is mostly due to careful handling, and a lot of parental and managerial attention. Her parents, who appear to be nice people, are right with her, all the time, so she has not had the opportunity to get into trouble). But they have created this marketing hysteria, with limited access to the most desired creature that is HM. When have we ever been expected to pay $15 a ticket to see a movie? When has a movie that was expected to be a big hit, had such a limited run, from the onset? There are lots of movies with big stars, made with a huge budget, but the cost of the ticket is not tied to the movie. Movies, usually, play as long as justified by ticket sales. The 3D effects were minimal, and, I'm sure, mostly thrown in to justify the higher price, and to discourage bootlegging. My husband bought the tickets about six weeks ago-when have we ever had to buy movie tickets that far ahead? They better make their money now, pretty soon the parents, and probably the kids too, will just say "enough already," it just is not worth the trouble and expense. We, like most parents, did not get tickets to the concert, and my kid did not express much disappointment, and was just as happy with other activities we planned for them. I did, however, like Billy Ray for his line about how he's played "every Indian reservation casino, from the Atlantic to the Pacific." Bless him, for not being jealous of his daughter's success, and letting her have her moment.

We were able to see it twice--once at the premiere at the El Cap a couple of weeks ago, and once yesterday afternoon for my daughter's birthday party.

I was very impressed with the film. The 3D effects were not gimmicky like a lot of kids' 3D movies are (here's my arm reaching waaay out into the audience! Now here's a flying saucer! etc.) but served help the audience feel a part of the concert. You forget it's a 3D movie and just enjoy what's going on. At the El Cap they shoot off confetti cannons at the end and it's like you're right at the foot of the stage.

I watch the Hannah Montana show with my kids, though we're not rabid fans--but I came away with a lot more respect for her and her family and think she is way more talented than I gave her credit for. My kids liked the movie enough that Char wanted to bring her friends to a showing for her birthday party. The audience didn't sing along or scream at either showing, but at the premiere they did clap after every song.;) We cried a little bit during the song she wrote for her grandpa--very touching.

We only paid $9.00 per ticket--I didn't order them online, but went right to the theatre's box office. It wasn't an IMAX-size theatre, so maybe that's why it was cheaper. I think it's well worth it for any kid who enjoys her music or watches the TV show.

I believe there are some regional differences in ticket price. We saw it in a standard, suburban, multiplex theater, and it was $15. A woman in line told me she's heard of tickets in other areas selling for $18. The run has now been extended, so, after creating all this hype, anyone can see it anytime. When my husband first looked into the show, in late December, Friday was sold out, in several theaters. There was, barely, any notice about ticket sales, just small print in the regular movie listings. Now, lets see if some theaters try, in, say two or three weeks, to drop to a normal ticket price, at which time there will be a national uproar.

I doubt they will--if people will pay that amount and they sell out showtimes. It's all about the moola.I think I would only pay 15.00 to see it at the El Capitan--that's just way too rich for my blood otherwise.:(

We paid the $15.00 to see it. I took my daughter and two of her friends. They weren't big HM fans prior to seeing it...they wanted to see it because of the Jonas Brothers. Seeing the concert/movie the kids are all hyped on HM now. (Although if you ask who they saw in the movie, all three will tell you first off they saw the Jonas Brothers.) I thought it was done really well. Like lisap said there were no cheap 3D gimmicks and I came out liking Miley Cyrus now more than when I went in. I thought it was neat that they showed her writing her own music and playing the guitar chords. I also liked that they showed the close relationship she has with her parents. All in all, I thought it was money well spent as the kids are still talking about it and it was so much fun watching/hearing their responses to the show.

I was bored and flipping channels not too long ago and I came across the Country Music Channel, who knew that even existed? As it happened I came across the channel while something interesting was on -- Billy Ray Cyrus has a reality show, again who knew? The cameras just followed him around while he went about normal things and while he played shows. The half of an episode I caught had him planning a birthday party for... you guessed it, his daughter Miley. It also had a lot of him with his son. They seemed close and had a lot of fun together. Just thought I would mention that in case anyone is interested.

My daughter is Hannah Montana obsessed so someone will have to take her to the movie. I am trying to get my wife to do it because I don't want to go. I didn't know until reading here that the ticket prices were higher than a normal movie, although I just checked and our local theater has it priced at $12 for adults and $9 for kids. It is also showing at a local theater with an IMAX screen (tickets $15), but I checked and it isn't on the IMAX screen -- a U2 movie is instead. Maybe that should be a double feature. One concert for the kid and one for the parent.

I saw it on opening day and I loved it!!! I'm 19 and a proud Hannah fan! LoL. I think it's great that she is who she is and she's not like the rest of young Hollywood. I really look up to Miley as well as Ashley Tisdale from High School Musical.

I'm not so keen on HM. Especially the show. She shouts all the time and over reacts to everything (more than your suposed to on these kind of shows).
