I will be visiting for the first time in a couple of days. Can you share your must ride, must see, and must purchase things?

Thanks,
John:)

I'm not a big coaster person, so I can't give any advice about rides, but I can tell you that the one thing that made our trip to Six Flags worthwhile this summer were Fast Lane tickets. I don't remember the exact pricing, but essentially you can purchase their equivalent of FastPasses for the major attractions. I think it was something like 4 passes for $20.

If you're planning to ride X and other major coasters, I wouldn't do it without FastLane.

I wouldn't worry about FastLane until later in the day, if you find the lines too long, then invest in it, but since the best ride, "X" is currently not taking FastLane.

What to do, get there EARLY, and make sure you have your tickets bought and in line at the main enterence at least 15 minutes BEFORE the park opens.

When the park opens, go basically straight, and follow everone else to "X" (That is the basically the first roller coaster you see next to the parking lot when you get there. You will go over the bridge, and stand in line, this will be the SHORTEST the line will be ALL day (They have had reports of up to a SIX hour line for it). It should take about 1/2 hour to an hour to make it thru the line, but the ride is defentely worth it, after that I would go straight to the other new coaster, Deja Vu, and that is pretty much straight back (keep walking away from the front gate, you will go over the top of the hill, and down to the bottom on the other side, go to your left, and you will find Deja Vu and Psyclone. Ride Deja Vu, after that, you can pretty much do whatever you want to, if it is a hot day, the Rapids ride is very good, and will get you wet, it can have a long line, so if you are not into lines, this would be one that is good for FastLane. Of course, ride it in the middle of the day. If you want to cool off, and not wait too long, Tidal Wave next to the Riddler's Revenge is a great choice to get wet. (Of course dress appropriately, lot's of walking, and the place can get HOT. Goliath is also another great coaster, make sure to check out Superman and Ninja on top of the hill...

Silly stuff, the Circus Maximus (or whatever it is called) is not a bad show, plus it gets you into air conditioning for awhile;) The Petting Zoo is worth a couple of minutes to say hello to the Goats. :D

If you want to be cheap, have lunch at Katy's Kettle or the Waterfront's Commissary, the choices are OK (Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, and Chicken Strips), but the deal is to Upgrade for $2, you get the Souviener Cup that normally costs $7, and allows $1 refills all day... so if you want to be able to drink a lot of soda, this is the way to go! If you don't care about the deal, The Mooseburger Lodge is a good choice, and it offers a buffet, if you are Hungry, also the Panda Express has a combo deal for about $10 that will fill you up.

Once again, be prepared to be in the sun a lot, that it will be hot, and that you will walk alot, but if you are a coaster fan, it will be a GREAT day!!!

Darkbeer is right head straight to X as early as possible because the lines get long but beware its kind of a scarry ride.
The best ride line wait to ride ratio is Viper. If your going on a weekday like I did this had the smallest line and I was able to ride it 3 times in about a half hour. The worst was Pyclone the wooden roller coaster. Maybe it was the day I was there but it seemed like they only ran 1 train at a time.

Must ride: X, Deja Vu, Goliath, Batman, Riddler's Revenge and Superman. Viper is good to (but definitely take some Tylenol before riding. It tends to jerk your head a lot!)

If you want to kill some time, and if it's open, the Batman stunt show is alright.

I dont purchase anything here, except maybe food. Or just leave the park and go to Wendy's.

Just keep in mind, that if you love Disneyland, MAGIC MOUNTAIN IS NOT DISNEYLAND. D-Land has elves (custodians) that pick up the trash. MM does, but not to the same efficency. The shows aren't that great. Theming is adequate in the park, and a little better in some of the rides (ie Batman, Goliath.) But just remember, its not D-Land. So dont have high expectations of it being like D-Land. MMis for thrills only, in my opinion.

Hope this helps a little bit.

X is open again? I missed that announcement. I'll have to make my way up there again.

My advice, avoid Ninja at ALL COSTS!

If you want to kill some time, and if it's open, the Batman stunt show is alright.
The stunt show just hasn't been the same since they changed it. It was much better when they shot the inflatable Robin into the lake :D

I agree that you should leave for lunch. If you're willing to lose an hour or so, Wendy's is just down the hill or, for better food (but longer lines), there's and In'n'Out a couple exits south on the 5. You can leave and repark without having to pay again.

From what I've gathered, FastLane is not really worth it. You only get a few passes, and only certain rides are available on certain days. Just bite the bullet and stand in lines.

Here's an important tip. If you are carrying stuff (like a backpack, or a camera), beware of Riddler. You have two choices. Take your chances and leave your stuff sitting in the open at the loading station where no one will keep an eye on it. OR, pay for a locker before getting in line (they have lockers right at the entrance. Here's the warning, though! REMEMBER TO GET YOUR STUFF FROM THE LOCKERS! They are credit card only lockers, and it's charged by the hour, with no max! So if you forget and leave your stuff there for 8 hours, you're out a ridiculous ammount of money (it's probably at least $2 an hour if not more).

X is open again, but it is kind of random when it is operating during the course of the day. Typically, it doesn't open until an hour after park opening, but it's still worth waiting for it on a busy weekend day because that is the shortest the line will get.

The X factor also drops lines for the other coasters like a rock, which is awesome and you can easily get in multiple rides on the rest of the coaster collection abd water rides.

Next year, it will be even better with a "major attraction" (rumored to be the Intamin mega looper or Intamin hyper woodie) splitting the crowds even farther apart.
