the table is your own. the only restaurants that make you share with others are biergarten and teppan edo, i think.

it's a TS location, buffet, self-serve. it takes as long as you want it to.

We were there for dinner last Saturday. Enjoyed it very much. One of my complaints about Disney dining is that they keep it too "safe" - they have such a large variety of tastes, they don't push ethnic twists or spices too far, particularly on the buffets. Tusker House, though, had really good curries. It was reminded me a lot of Boma, but if you're reliant on Disney transportation, Boma is really a pain to get to. Our Tusker House reservations were at 5:00, the same time the park closed. We had no wait at all, and it wasn't crowded. There was tons of space between the tables. In fact, it seemed like it could accommodate a lot more people. I'll definitely go back there. Unlike pretty much all of the other Disney buffets I've been to (unless you're nearing starvation, never ever go to Hollywood and Vine in Disney's Hollywood Studios).

Do you need ADR's for lunch or dinner?

My 2 cents... and what I think what is widely considered an unwritten rule... is that ADR's are pretty much necessary for any table service restaurant.

So, yes... get an ADR just to be on the safe side.

i agree 100% with the above poster's comments. the widespread use of the dining plan has made ADRs required for a vacation. with ADRs you have to do a bit more planning and thinking about your trip and for some it takes some of the fun and adventure away, BUT you get peace of mind and less time waiting for an opening (this is very important after waiting in lines all day...).

we we travel to WDW we have one ADR made ofr each day (usually a dinner, but sometimes a lunch - this trip has our first breakfast ADR in 8 trips)

I loved Tusker House's breakfast buffet. But I love Flame Tree BBQ's pulled pork sandwich a lot! So I would have to say, go to Flame Tree for lunch and Tusker for breakfast. I haven't tried dinner there yet.

Oh, and Daisy Duck is at the buffet breakfast. I have never seen her anywhere else!

Tusker House was one of my big "secrets" at the park. It seemed like no one knew it was there. A perfect start to an Animal Kingdom day was to rush back and do the Safari Ride, and then have a runner go get fast passes to Kali River Rapids while everyone piled into Tusker House for one of the best "fast food" breakfastses in all of the parks.

In case you hadn't seen it anywhere else, I believe characters are only present at Tusker House for breakfast. When we were there for lunch in December, there were no characters.

Be warned about breakfast - I ate there in December, with an ADR before the park officially opened, and it took FORTY FIVE MINUTES to get seated! Completely unacceptable. The buffet was good, though.
