that I see on the Travel Channel Disney World shows...

There is one at the Polynesian Resort? and another one? We have a very last min 2.5 day trip in March for dh & I and another couple... and I thought I might try to get an ADR (heavy on the try) for on the luau/dinner show type meals?

So, I appreciate any specific info and suggestions. Thank you.

I tried last minute (three weeks out) for the Luau and couldn't get anything. :( So my advice would be to call ASAP and keep checking back if you don't get a reservation.

I have been to the Hoop-De-Doo dinner show and it's a lot of fun. It's very all-American, from the food to the music.

The Luau at the Polynesian Resort is the only luau I can think of on property. There is another Luau at Sea World, perhaps the show you were watching included that as well. It's been a few years since I've been to it, but it was a very fun show with dancers, fire manipulaters, audience interaction and the like. The food was excellent and was served family-style, just like the Hoop Dee Doo. We always went for the last show of the evening and then just walked along the beach - it's so peaceful looking out at the castle (you might even time it so you can be there during fireworks!) Two more things: dinner shows are now done in tiered levels of seating, so there is a greater cost the closer you get to the front, and the Luau was (I don't know if it still is) subject to weather cancellations. Hope this helps, and it really is an awesome experience, if you can get reservations.

I'm wondering if you're referring to 'Ohana and The Spirit of Aloha Luau, both at the Polynesian Resort.

The Luau is dinner only. 'Ohana is a full-service restaurant, but they have a character breakfast as well. Both are Polynesian themed.

Thank you for the info.

Now my dh thinks we should avoid any ADR since we have only 2.5 days and don't want to be stuck on a schedule. I still might call and see if it's even possible...

Only if he's ok with potentially eating counter service for every meal! I think you're going right when it's fairly crowded (if I'm recalling correctly), so if you're going to want to eat at 'meal time' you can't be choosy about where!

I just made ADR's only 2 days prior for my trip. I was able to get the ones I wanted, I just had to be flexible with the times. I was able to get Ohanas although we ended up cancelling. Make them, you can always cancel them later.

I would try for 'Ohana. The food is fabulous, and while it is not a full luau show, it is themed, and there are hula lessons in the aisles and a singer who strolls around the restaurant.

And a bonus- if you time it right, you can have a great view of Wishes (fireworks) complete with the soundtrack piped in.
