My husband and I together with our 4 yr old daughter and 2 yr old son will be in DisneyWOrld on Feb 9-13. My daughter's a big fan of sleepingbeauty so I made a reservation for dinner at Akershus.

THey said that they don't guarantee Sleeping beauty to be there so I'm having second thought. THe menu is just OK and I'm wondering if anyone's tried Akershus and waht you think of the food.

IS this sit down but you can ask for "refills" (order same food again" for one price?

The only time we could get was 4:40. I don't know if this is good or bad but we're planning to see Illuminations that night.

Thanks.

We have eaten there several times, and SB was always there. While not guaranteed, you can be pretty sure. We've even had Cinderella on more than one occasion. There is plenty to eat. The salad course is buffet, so, of course you can go up for more of that. I don't think they would get you another entree. You share dessert, and if there was a particular item on the plate you liked, they would probably bring more. Of course, they refill your drinks. My princess fans really like it there, and it's easier to book than Cindy's Castle. I think your early dinner time is just fine. I suggest you find a good spot to view Illuminations early, and one of you get the kids some food from the many quick service stands at the World Showcase while you wait, and they can enjoy a hearty snack, several hours after dinner.

We had dinner there in Jan 2007. I thought the entree was ok but I was totally disappointed in the buffet. I am not too keen on buffets in general, but this one seemed poorly attended to, with items that were out not being replaced (our table was right next to one of the buffets and I was facing toward it the entire meal). I was also a bit disappointed in the setting, if you are not seated in the main room, it is sort of bland and not very 'castle like'. The character interaction was very good, probably the best of the character meals I have attended. I did not get the impression that it was a rush from one table to the next as I have experience in the past, with the princesses spending a bit of time with my daughter (15 yo with special needs). So, without being too overly negative, as far as the food and atmosphere goes, it was one of my least favorite places.

The last time we ate here was in 2004, before they changed to character dining. Everything was excellent and it was one of our fave restaurants. (We like ethnic food you can't find often!) Sorry to hear it's been disappointing recently.:crying:

We've been there 3 times- 1 dinner and 2 bfasts.

We've only seen Aurora once-- prepare your daughter that she may not be there.

As for the food, well we didn't love dinner and I think the bfast is fine (not great).

You'll still have a great time.

The food was sort of eh. I had the venison and it seemed a bit overcooked to me. I've had much better venison for less. The character thing was fine, but I was mainly going for the food. Belle was doing posed portraits in the entryway area. Aurora, Jasmine, Cinderella and Ariel went around to the tables during the meal.

we had brekfast there last year and it was ok. We dont like the buffets when you have to ask for the food, it felt a little weird. My 5 yr old daighter and 3 yr old son were with us.

The princesses seemed a little rushed to us. We had Aurora, Snow White and Mary Poppins (?). Belle was taking pictures at the door.

The absolute highlight and a lifelong Disney memory for me, was Snow White. She had on this deep red lipstick, almost like thick paint. She was being very sweet to my son and kissed him on his forehead. It left a huge, bright red lip imprint on his head. It was hilarious. Naturally as all good parents would do, we left it on him all day, which got a lot of attention and smiles from people throughout the park, it made all the days pictures more enjoyable.

thanks for letting me share that memory!

It used to be my favorite restaurant. Now I will not go there any more.

1. It had a wonderful buffet. There would be about 30 items on the cold food side.

2. There are now Princesses.

3. They are going to included photos (like at Cindy's) with the meals, so adult prices (including tax and tip) will be about $45.

Do you know when this is going to start?

That's really annoying to me, I'll suffer the bad food so my daughter can see the princesses, but I really do not want to be forced to buy a bad picture.

It was one of my favorites also. It was much better when they had all the ethnic food on the buffet. I think they changed the menu to satisfy the kids.
