When did they change the way parent switch is? It used to have you enter in the exit of a ride and I didn't realize it had changed since I last used it and was told rudely to go thru Fastpass next time. She tried to tell me when they started doing it where you go thru Fastpass but I know from using it that it hadn't been the same way for almost 2 yrs since I had used it during that time and the paper said on it to go thru the exit and not the FastPass. So when did this change? Why don't they tell you this when they give you the paper? I know I should have read it to see if there was some sort of change but I just didn't even think about it at the time since the ride ended up down for awhile as it was.

I know there were several rides that we had to go through FastPass with our Switch Pass. I can't remember right off the top of my head which ones. It seems there were a couple at DCA. I know I did it wrong a time or two, but sure enough if I had actually looked at the Pass, the instructions were on it. The CM's were great though. No probs. :)

My recollection is that when we went in June we went through the fastpass line for Big Thunder. But I think that was the only one.

I've had the same situation with Baby Switch. The way it was explained to me was if FastPass is opened you are supposed to use that line. If FastPass is not operating that day, because it's slow, you use the exit. I've had the pass say use the exit and when I do I get told by the CM that I'm supposed to use the FastPass. I just confirm it with the CM who gives me the ticket where I'm supposed to go to. I was really surprised to see Splash on our last trip using their FastPass line as baby switch instead of the exit. But the SAP's are using the exit and that line looked just as horrendous as the rest of the lines of people trying to get into SM.

I know the original question pertained to how child switches are done at Disneyland. I just thought I would throw in information on how things are done at WDW.
Each location that offers a child switch is a little different, so the best way to proceed is to ask the CM at the greeter position of each attraction. They will give you the appropriate information.
Due to the way different attractions are built, some are able to accomodate child switches more easily. That is the main reason it sometimes varies from one attraction to another.
