I did a search and there hasn't been a thread in this forum yet on where to eat for Thanksgiving (although I'm sure if I looked on the older forums I could find one). So I hope this isn't to redundant.

We, hopefully, will be at WDW on Thanksgiving 2008. I expect some of you may have been there this year or years past, so I am looking for advice on where to eat dinner. Good or bad experiences would be helpful. I'm not sure what park I will go to that day-so I'm open to any ideas.

Depends on whether or not having a "traditional" menu is important to you. In 2006, we ended up making a relatively last-minute trip for Thanksgiving. My husband's 50th birthday happened to be that week, but we did not make reservations until September. By then, most restaurants were booked. We ended up at Jiko (the more upscale restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge), and had a wonderful meal. We did not mind at all not having the usual turkey and stuffing type of meal.

There are usually "holiday" menus at several restaurants around WDW.

I'd probably choose Liberty Tree Tavern. . . well that's the same menu all year round so maybe not. . . maybe something nicer like the California Grill or Jiko. . .

Do you have a budget in mind? Dining plan? In a park or in a resort?

Hmmmmmm......

I'd probably choose Liberty Tree Tavern

If you want "traditional" American Thanksgiving food, that's a good bet! Check it out...

PATRIOT'S PLATTER - A generous serving of roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, and Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese.

Those are great ideas. I will ask my family of course (as soon as I've determined which one's I like best;)) I was leaning toward Liberty Tavern for the traditional menu. But after your comments, I like the idea of going to some special restruant we haven't been to before (this will be our 6th trip- so not easy). Jikos and California grill sound very special. I haven't been to either. As to budget and park- I think this will be an expensive meal and I'm OK with that. I wasn't sure whether to brave the parks on Thursday or not. I guess a resort may be easier to get around to if the parks are too busy.

The other question is if some restruants will change their menus for Thanksgiving- has anyone encountered that?

Thanks for the advice so far- I just put my deposit down on our room (AAA discounts are out for that week by the way)

Prime Time Cafe at MGM (ooops!) Disney Hollywood Studios had a traditional turkey option, and it was fun to eat in Mom's kitchen. Lots of resturants add what they call "holiday" items. Check out the pages on www.allearsnet.com under "special events dining" for last years info.

Most of the restaurants will be having a turkey option, and most will be jacking up the regular prices for this time period whether they add any extras or not.

I personally would do turkey at home - and enjoy what I'd normally order at a restaurant regardless of the "holiday". What good is turkey if you don't have the leftovers?? :D

For me the favorite always was the Pie...

We ate at Whispering Canyon with about 20 of us for Thanksgiving. We were there for a total of 14 days and we both said that was the worst meal we had the whole trip. Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite and nothing we good. Well, the cornbread and the salad were good. Even the pumpkin pie was gross and I love pumpkin pie! I thought I was the only one who didn't like the meal, but when I talked to the rest of the family, no one liked it at all.
