This is out first trip to WDW. My 5 yr old does not like what she calls "wait on your food places". Are there plenty of other food options?

Are there plenty of other food options? Drince88 01-22-2008, 10:55 AM Yes, there are quite a few counter service locations all over Disney property. Every resort has one in some shape or form. Actually, the value and moderates are as a class, better on this. At the value resorts, counter service food courts are the only option for food. Some of the deluxe resorts have better counter service locations than others. There's even some that offer 'different' food in the parks, not JUST hamburger, chicken fingers, and pizza - though some times you have to search a little bit for them. ETA - and there are also a number of buffet locations that you don't have to wait! mom22gls 01-22-2008, 12:32 PM There are lots of counter service places, and you can stick to those, if you like. Some suggestions include Cosmic Rays, in Tomorrowland in the MK. You are entertained by an alien "lounge singer" while you eat. There are sit down options, that provide a lot of entertainment for the kids. Character meals, particularly buffets like Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, are very popular with kids. There are several princess meals, which my little girls love. Cinderella Royal Table, for breakfast or lunch is the really hot ticket, and you need to call 180 days ahead, at 7AM EST to get in. Also consider the Princess Storybook breakfast or lunch at Epcot (at the Norway restaurant). There is also a Cinderella dinner at 1900 Park Fair at the Grand Floridian, which is also a buffet. A lot of other places include diner participation. Consider Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge, which is not a quiet meal. To get there, you can either take a bus from any park, or the boat from the MK. Or the dinner show Hoop-Di-Doo review. jengold29 01-22-2008, 02:26 PM For counter service we like: Columbia Harbor House (MK) Tangerine Cafe, The Chinese and Mexican places (all Epcot) Flame Tree BBQ (AK) nothing from the mgm studios comes to mind right now. mckat 01-22-2008, 02:46 PM From DS, I like ABC commisary- but only if it doesn't have a line. It can be very slow. You might also want to consider that after a lot of walking around, you 5 year old may want to sit a bit and some of the restruants are more fun then others. My 6 yr old loved the 50s Prime Time Cafe (viewmaster dessert menus!). Also as was said- buffet restruants can be a relaxing, but not waiting, option. I'm usually not a big buffet fan, but I wouldn't miss Bomas. Again, my 6 yr old went up multiple times for a little something else and that allowed us to sit back and relax (and go up a few times for refills ourselves!). |
