View Full Version : Refillable Mugs - repeating topic?
tappenfeat 01-17-2008, 05:54 AM Hi everyone!
I was wondering if this topic came up on here somewhere...our trip in December we bought two refillabe mugs (which we think are worth every $$) and I love to collect them especially because they have the different resort names on them.
But, this year I have noticed that all resorts have the same mugs? Hmmmm, does anyone know why they are doing that and are they going to go back to the "resort" names again?
Also, with the mugs all looking the same, I'm sure it was easy for folks to use them at different resorts without being noticed...not that I did that...
Lastly, two of ours broke very easily! We were surprised at how they cracked at a bump or a small drop and just fell apart! Wow! I lost 2 mugs that way...that means I have to go back now and get some more....*sigh* whoa is me!
Thanks guys!
GusMan 01-17-2008, 09:09 AM Yep... its come up before (Linky (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=74940&highlight=refillable+mugs))but not for a while.
Chances are they will keep the current mugs until the YOMD promo is over.
Sounds like you got some mugs from a bad batch. We still have ours from our very first trip. We use them all the time at home.
tappenfeat 01-17-2008, 09:41 AM Leave it up to us getting mugs that are from a bad batch.
So, thanks for the tid-bit...helps much!!! :fez:

The problem is that they seem like they are the high impact plastic (like our kids' sippy cups were) but they aren't. We've had them break too.
norwane 01-19-2008, 08:06 PM That's too bad yours broke, mine have also lasted for quite awhile. Do all of the resorts have the refillable cups, including the deluxe resorts?
stan4d_steph 01-20-2008, 11:45 AM Yes, they had the refillable mugs at the Polynesian in Captain Cook's. Right now all of the mugs are the same, the Year of a Million Dreams design, so even if you change resorts, you can use the same mug.
runner110 02-02-2008, 09:58 AM We returned from WDW Port Orleans Riverside last Monday, and didn't take our 2007 mugs with us because we figured they'd be different (I have no issues with using the same mugs purchased on a previous trip to get one cup of coffee a day - I give Disney enough money without buying new mugs for each trip). Oddly, when we bought our new mugs, they were EXACTLY the same as the 2007 ones, except that they dont say 2007 (or any other year). No one would have noticed if we had brought the old mugs.
nvmom 02-02-2008, 10:05 AM So can you only re-fill these mugs at your resort? or are the there other places in the parks to use them too?
nvmom
You can use the mugs at any resort-we did a split stay with CBR and Pop and used them. In the parks, you can't use them.
But at the water parks they have their own mugs available for sale which are good for that day; if you want to use them another day, you purchase another UPC sticker for-I think-$5 and can then use the same mug rather than purchase another.
AK has a refillable sports bottle-with a lid and a straw(neither of which AK has due to concerns with the animals) and have it refilled for $1.
dogladyjw 02-12-2008, 08:30 AM I have a Capn' Hook and a Alice In Wonder Land ...what kind of mugs did you lose to breakage?
eyeorelover 02-12-2008, 08:37 AM I am planning on purchasing one or two of these refillable mugs during our June trip and am wondering at the resort food court, what all drinks are available? We are staying at POR and I'm sure all the sodas and coffee are good, but what about milk and juice? I'm trying to plan my gardengrocer order and want to know how much of what to add in. Thanks!
anniedg 02-12-2008, 09:07 AM At POP last June apple juice was available for the refillable mugs. I think milk was only sold in the small cartons.
I remember seeing the standard sodas(icees at PoP), apple juice and hot chocolate. No milk-milk is available for purchase in cartons and small jugs(single serving size) at the food court. And a half gallon was available at the resort store.
tdelaney_98 02-14-2008, 08:07 PM But remember that there are not refrigerators in the value resorts (Pop, ASMo, ASMu) unless you pay the $10.65/day fee. That extra charge would quickly erode whatever savings you got by buying 1/2 gallons rather than carton by carton.
At the moderates, there are fridges. We bought milk and juice for breakfast, but we still used our mugs PLENTY in the food court for pop, coffee, etc. It was still worth the cost for us.

Thanks for the info. We are staying at POR so we will have the fridge and are having groceries delivered from Gardengrocer ( got my delivery confirmation time for our June trip yesterday). I did plan on having milk delivered - will a full gallon fit in the fridge? I also was mainly asking about the juice because I didn't want to get a big jug, and have it take up fridge space if we could easily fill our mugs up at the foodcourt. Thanks again for all the help planning this trip. Less than 4 months - I can barely wait!
nvmom 02-15-2008, 03:57 PM Would these mugs be worth it for a 2.5 day trip??

Personally, I don't get them for short trips. I think they're about $12 - so you can quickly do the math on if it's 'worth it'. Would you have that many servings of the beverage of your choice at the resorts food court? Would that mean toting a mug around a park all day just taking up room in your bag to get full advantage of it by stopping at the food court to and from the room?
My preferred beverage is diet coke, and when I've been at Pop Century, I've gotten 2 Liters of it that has worked out better for me. I haven't looked at other resorts to see if they have the larger bottles or not.
But that also doesn't include the souvenir value, so if you're close to the break even point on the beverages, that might sway you over.

I think it will fit IF you take out the little shelf dividing the fridge in 1/2. The quarts fit in the door. Have a GREAT trip!
I got a 1/2 gal. to fit in the door. I personally wouldn't do a gallon-for me it'd take up too much room that I'd want to use for sodas, water and leftover desserts(hey-it's breakfast!;))...but that's just me.
pixiedust 02-16-2008, 09:51 AM Current pricing on the mugs is $12.49 plus tax, a bit over $13 each.
tdelaney_98 02-16-2008, 05:49 PM Thanks for the price update!
