How is the Contemporary Resort? I've been considering staying in the Tower there and was wondering what other people felt. Is it noisy with the Monorail traveling through it?

The Contemporary has large rooms, and the rooms are the same whether you're in the garden wings or the tower. The Tower is by far the better location/view though - I wouldn't even consider staying there except for the tower. There is no noise from the monorail, and once you close your door there's no noise from Chef Mickey's either.
If MK is your primary destination, the Contemporary is a good choice. For me though - my personal opinion is the location stinks. It's convenient to MK but nothing else. Going to MGM or AK you'll have to take a bus that will stop at the Ticket & Transportation and fill to beyond capacity with the hordes of people being shuttled in by their offsite motels - not a very pleasant or relaxing ride to the parks! If you can get Yacht Club, Beach Club, or BW for the same money, I think you're much better off over there - unless you plan to devote most of your time to the MK.

i have yet to stay there but i here it is a plesent one. especially for all the extras you get, especially from the MK. youcan see the fireworks every night they have them from the window's/balcony. there are great resturants that you could get priority seating.
The resort I know about is the caribian beach resort. I remember seaing things from MGM and Epcot. they have a huge lake and verry nice pools. i also been to the Port Orlenes resort. it has a great food court, verry cool pools. The best time to go is sprigh time. not to hot or to cold. there is also almost no rain.

The Contemporary Resort is great. Just the outside of the building seems ugly to me!

the theme makes it ugly. it is themed as a future hotel cause it could been seen from tomorrowland when the park was first opened.

Just a head up - I plan to write an article (with lots of photos) this weekend. It should appear in Everything But The Parks here on mouseplanet on July 13th.

We stayed at the Contemporary 3 times. All the times were in the South Garden Wing.
The worst thing I can say is that it was a long walk to get to the monorail. We had to walk to the tower building and then we had to go up to the Grand Canyon Concourse to get the monorail station.
I loved the room layout - it had a big closet and the bathrooms were great. They were large with the tub/shower/vanity in one area and the toilet and another sink were in a smaller area. Two Queen beds with a daybed/couch. Plenty of room to walk around.
When we had a room on the lake side about 10 years ago they used to bring milk and cookies everynight before bedtime, which was a nice touch!
The last time we stayed there, we had a room on the 3rd floor of the south wing facing the MK. The first night there, I heard the fireworks and went to the window. Well, we could see them! It was great. My daughter got to watch them from her bed everynight. Our room must have been at just the right angle:cool:

I really would not bother spending my money on staying at the Contemporary Resort. It is run down and without a current theme although it once was futuristic. It feels antiseptic and at the same time old. The worst place to be is in the wings-they are even more run down and old. It would be a good location, being on the monorail, to get to the MK, but I would spend the same amount of money on a nicer hotel at Wilderness Lodge or the Yacht & Beach Club.

I thought they just got done rehabbing all the rooms a few years ago. Does anyone know for sure?

We just stayed at the Contemporary (at the end of December) for the first time and we loved it. We stayed in the North Garden Wing, with a great view of Space Mountain and MK. We saw the midnight fireworks from just outside our room on 12/30, and the room was large and worked out great for our family of 4.
The walk to the Monorail was not bad at all (hey - you are at Disneyworld - believe me, that was not a long walk), and we loved the hotel.
