Could someone tell me where are the water fountains in the 4 parks to re-fill water bottles are? We dont want to go broke buying water in the summer heat? Are they on the parks map? Thanks:)

I've now seen several threads on the subject of water bottles. While I understand the need for hydration (practice it myself, daily), I do not understand the obsession carryingh H2O bottles around with you. Maybe I'm just an old fuddy-duddy?

Drinking fountains are where ever there is a restroom. Not all drinking fountain water tastes the same, some of the fountains do not cool the water very much so it will have a very "sulfury" (if that is even a word) taste. Some people like to bring the crystal light or kool aid individual packets to add to the water bottle.

Well, how would you recommend that a family of four would hydrate themselves all day? It would cost a tidy sum for a week of drinks and water bottles that you just throw away when finished. I think it is a sensible decision to carry water bottles and refill at the drinking fountains. We have always carried a small trailpack with two large water bottles in each pocket. We froze them in the hotel room the night before so they would stay cooler longer.

Family of Four checking in...and I gotta agree with newhdplayer here. We are on vacation and the last thing I feel like doing is schleping around bottles of water in a bag or backpack.
We like to tour the parks "handsfree" though - the days of strollers are way behinds us, and so for us, we dont' wanna be stuck with a backpack or anything else. So, bottled water is just one of the things we budget for.

I kinda don't get the obsession with carrying water bottles around in the parks either. When I need a drink I stop at the fountains. They're conveniently located throughout the parks. Guess it's a generational thing...

While I do see where you are coming from, and I do agree that it would be nice to have a "handsfree" day at the parks, we fall into the water bottle group as well.

We don't have kids, but there are just certain things that are a necessity for us in the park that we need to carry a bag for. The minor annoyance of having to throw a bag over my shoulder is worth the inconvenience later. Plus, I personally know that I wouldn't want to have to waste any chunk of my Disney time waiting in line for a bottle of water every time I wanted a good, cold drink. You just fill up at the hotel the night before, freeze it and you're good to go!

Welcome. I am a Family of 5. We carry water bottles and snacks. Most of the time 2-3 bottles and we refill at Water fountains. I do agree with the drop in suggestion. Water is not tasty.

My favorite fountians, IE coldest are in Magic Kingdom by the Cinderella Fountain in Fantasy land and at MGM by the Muppet 3-D movie.

No fountains jump out at me from Epcot or Animal Kingdom.

Enjoy your trip.

Thank you for all the replies. Sorry didnt mean to start anything here just wanted to know where the fountains are. Each time we go to WDW I always have a fanny pack on so my hands are free at all times and after money, room key, sun block etc. I always have room for a water bottle. It does come in handy when you have to wait in line for up to 1 hour and you are hot and thristy. If what the experts say about how much a PER person should drink in the hot humid weather in June walking around at the parks all day we would easily spend 100.00 on water alone. I would rather save that water money and buy other things. Again personal preference.:)

WOW! so are people actually waiting in line 20, 30 or 60 minutes for water? We usually only go in Jan. or early Feb. and I've never ever waited behind more than 1 maybe, 2 people ahead of me, mostly don't wait at all.

I can't imagine a line/wait like that - that is crazy! I'd bring a wagon load of water in that case:eek:

(nice to meet a fellow Leslie - I *think* that makes 3 of us gals on here*)

yay! We leave in 2 days for WDW!!!

I should clarify that I meant to wait 1 hour in line for a ride not a water fountain. Sorry about that...

I purchased a water bottle that filters the water as you drink it. A great investment for Disney in the summer. Any of the food stand s that sell fountain drinks will give you a cup of ice/water for free...just pour into the filter bottle and tah dah...cold drinkable water.

We are usually at WDW in the summer, and find that bringing our own water to the parks is a necessity. We sip at those bottles constantly, to stay hydrated in the heat. If we waited to find a fountain or to purchase water in the parks, we would not drink enough to stay comfortable and healthy. I find the tap water there to be awful tasting, but I would consider a reusable filtered bottle. For the last several trips, I have had a grocery delivery service bring bottled water by the case, along with cereal, snacks, etc. We usually take a small thermal type bag, and have one or more bottles frozen.

Where can you buy a filtered water bottle and price? How is the size ounce wise? We are defiently using the grocergrocery.com for water, milk and snacks didnt see a grocery option for beer or wine? Any one know why? Thanks:)

Probably because they can't verify that the purchaser is of legal drinking age. They usually leave the order with Bell Services, and no agent of GardenGrocer actually sees the purchaser. Also, the purchase is, generally, completed on-line, without verification of age.

I have heard that you can put your alcohol order in the comments box and they will get it for you, I don't remember where I heard it but it would not hurt to call and ask.

I found my filtered water bottle at Bass Pro Shop...you can probably find one at a camping supply store or online. Brita use to make one, not sure if they still do.

I don't use water fountains, but I do carry water.
I carry water with me when I'm not on vacation too.
I use a rubbermaid refillable plastic one with a wider mouth, so that I can put ice into it easily.

I want to add to the fountain list.
I like to get a cup of ice water(free)from the Norwegian bakery in Epcot. I like to get a School Bread with it:).
I love that School Bread and I have never seen it anywhere except the Norwegian bakery.

The other place that I get ice water is at the counter service place in the dino area of AK. They have good water. I think it's Restaurantasaurus.

One of the other water related things I do is to pack a rubbermaid pitcher. I pack snacks inside it and when I get to the hotel I fill the thing up with ice so that I have cold water in the room all the time.

does the filter do much with the taste of the water? we end up buying water/drinks there because of the taste. we get spoiled with the water taste/quality in the bay area since we get it from the sierras. :)

The filter does change the taste of the water. It is like drinking bottled water. You do not get that "florida water" taste at all.

I agree with the need to carry water to keep you hydrated. We use the Disney water bottle holders so our hands are free. We use those everywhere! :)

I always bring a bottle of water with me, I just keep it in my bag. There are drinking fountains all over the place. I like to look for unusual ones. My favs are the ones that are themed to a particular area. As for good water, you can ask for a cup of ice water at any counter service location and they will give you one for free, the nice big cups with a lid and everything! I often do that and just pour it into my bottle if I get tired of carrying the cup.

I'm in the hands-free group. I budget for water or stop by a fountain. The last thing I want is to carry another few pounds around to save a buck (or 2.39). I know it can really add to the budget. If I have to trim somewhere else, then I will (souvenirs). If I weren't such a shutterbug, I'd show up at the turnstyles with just my key to the world, my ticket, and $20 cash and call it a day.

I know I'm in the minority and I'm not trying to judge anyone--just trying to talk about the other side of the coin.

I actually got mine at Walmart and it was a Brita. I'm spoiled by my tap water too and can't stand Florida tap water so the filter bottle is great!

I tried putting water and sodas in the backpack and carrying them around -- problems I experienced were 1) they got heavy (and dh is such a whiner saying I think he's a pack mule :p so I tried carrying it ... got heavy quickly) so I cut back and 2) as we'd be walking around the cold drinks would start to sweat (I solved that by putting a hand towel in with them to absorb the moisture ... yes, I returned the hand towels to the room, I didn't sneak home with them :p ) Now I may take one drink, and then buy the rest.

Still, I can't be totally hands-free (though I'd like to be) because I am a lip balm, lotion, and hand sanitizer maniac, lol, plus dh is big on snapping pictures and needs his emergency inhalers (he usually doesn't need them but once in line for a ride there was a woman touching up her hair and perfume, and the fumes from the hairspray and perfume set dh in to an asthma attack -- talk about not being hands-free, that gal had a make-up bag and all, lol)
