My brother is taking his wife to Florida in March for their 25th anniversary. They're going to spend three nights at Shades of Green, and would like to buy three-day parkhoppers. They asked me where they should buy them -- I have no idea, other than at one of the parks.

He looked at Costco, where they've gotten good deals on Disneyland multi-day passes. He couldn't find any for Disney World. He said he looked at the military discount, but that it wasn't that much. (Not sure where he saw it.)

Where do you recommend he buy his parkhoppers?

I read some SoG posts -- do I understand correctly that they run busses to the parks like Disney Resorts do? If that is the case, would those of you who have stayed there recommend using the busses, or getting a car?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice!

I would check out MouseSavers. I'm not sure if Mary fully identifies all the Military discounts available (if there are any), but she does give information about ticket brokers that may be discounted.

I believe I've heard that some Military Bases (Posts?) have discounted tickets available from their either recreation department or something similar. I'd also check out SOG's website and see if they mention tickets available through them.

SOG's buses are not run by Disney, so they are more like off-site buses than on-site buses - but I'm not sure where the fall on the spectrum of schedules (essentially constant, like Disney buses- to -one drop off and one pick up per day, like the worst of the off-site could be). Again, I'd check their website. I'm pretty sure they do not have access to DME, so your brother would have to do something to get from the airport to the hotel.

If they are staying at SoG they should buy the tickets there for the best deal. The prices are about 10% off the gate prices, and there is no 6.5% sales tax added.

Also, they have a special ticket available only there for qualified people staying at SoG or any Disney Resort. It is called the Stars and Stripes Pass; it is good for the length of stay and is valid for unlimited entries to all the parks (both major and minor).

As far as the buses are concerned, unlike the Disney buses which tend to run every 20 minutes, theirs tend to run every hour. Also their buses are treated almost the same as off-site buses. For example going to MK they will go to the TTC and not the stops actually at MK. For all the other parks they go to the area where the charter buses go, not the regular Disney bus stops.
