View Full Version : To do or not to do other things in Orlando... that is my question.
Meisha B 01-10-2008, 11:50 AM I am thinking about only doing the Disney Parks on our 7 day vacation in May. If I do anything other than Disney, I was thinking Sea World. Plus, I saw that the tickets there were buy 1 day, get a 2nd day free. Can't remember if that was a special, but either way. Is it worth it? or since it is my daughter's first trip should we just do Disney?
scoobydooby 01-10-2008, 01:34 PM Well this is only my view, but with a five year old and 7 days I would stick to the Disney parks only, especially if you want to do the water parks too - although Sea World is a nice park too. You're going to need to rest every day for a start. Magic Kingdom is at least a 2 day park taken at a reasonable pace if you want to see it all, including standing in line for all the characters and Epcot is definately a 2 day park, although you might miss a lot of it out or not with a child of 5. My 5 year old DD loved it there but 8 year old DS wasn't that interested in much of it - (never let him loose in Innovations though ;) ).
disnut8 01-11-2008, 06:52 AM Sea World usually has buy one day, get one free. I also have seen a special where you can get in as an adult for the kids' price. There's no guarantee that either or both will be available during your trip.
Here's what I would do. Keep Sea World in the back of your mind. Since it's your aughter's first trip, you have no idea of how she's going to respond to Disney World. She may love it and want to spend every single day there. She might think it's OK and still want to spend all seven days there. Or, she might be scared of the characters, the rides, the crowds, or whatever. You just don't know.
Make your decision AFTER you get there. Get your Disney World tickets since you know you will be going there. If you get a five day pass or a six day pass and decide to spend all seven days there, you can easily upgrade your tickets. IF you decide to go to Sea World, then get the tickets at Sea World.
mzloolue 01-11-2008, 08:40 AM I've never been to Seaworld.
And I really don't care if I ever do go to Seaworld.
And actually, at the aquarium in Epcot you may see enough sea creatures to hold you for a while.
bduff 01-11-2008, 10:11 AM It comes down to where you're coming from and how often you think you'll be able to visit WDW, doesn't it? We're from Seattle, so DL is a much easier trip than WDW. Our trip to WDW in April may be our one and only, so no way we're going to dilute our WDW experience - we want to soak it in. On a prior trip to DL, however, we split our time between DL and the attractions in San Diego, including Sea World. And we enjoyed Sea World a lot. But that made sense since DL is something we may be able to do every 2-3 years or so.
Ohthatjeff 01-11-2008, 11:04 AM SeaWorld is not a two-day park. In one day, you'll have seen everything you want to see.
Kurtoon 01-11-2008, 11:18 PM 7 days at WDW, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I would plan 0n 2 days at the Magic Kingdom , 1 early morning for the rope drop and 1 late night for Wishes fireworks
1 day at Animal Kingdom, have to see the tumble monkeys
1 day at Disney Hollywood Studios, just for tower-o-terror
2 days at Epcot center, and that's not enough
and 1 day to catch up on anything ....like pixie dust or mermaids, or pirates, or country bears, or Yeti's, or popcorn on main street USA.

steamboatpookster 01-12-2008, 03:59 PM The wife and I went to SeaWorld with friends last Christmas (year ago). It was very cool--but expensive. Our friends had a two free tickets, so they gave us one, so we only had to pay admission for one person. Seeing the Killer Whale show was incredible. You're going to see different animals than those in the aquarium at EPCOT.
My wife and I always go off property to shop @ mid-week of our vacation. We will go to AK in the morning and be outa there by 2pm. Then we'll go shopping at the outlet malls.
Anywho, it depends if your daughter really wants to see the whales or not. But being five, it might be a wash.
DorkySka 01-12-2008, 05:59 PM I honestly wouldn't waste your money on Sea World. You have The Living Seas in Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Disney really is most children-friendly place in Orlando, if you daughter is twelve or over, I might suggest a day trip to Universal's Islands of Adventure, but other than that, I wouldn't bother leaving the property.
