I've done a search and couldn't find what I was looking for so I was wondering if someone could help me out.

My mom is an insulin dependent diabetic and through various threads here, I have learned of different ways for her to carry her insulin around the park with us. She even purchased a really neat bag that carries her pen, insulin and a cooling pack.

Now here's the question. My mom was getting her hair done the other day and the hair stylist was certain that there were insulin stations throughout WDW. I've honestly never heard of them.

Does anyone know anything about these? Can she bring her insulin there? Is it just to store her needle? I'm once again, at a loss. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I think I've heard about people being able to store their insulin in the first aid centers (if they didn't have the handy-dandy pack your Mom got, which I think would be TONS easier to deal with) - but I doubt if they'd supply it. I'd presume they have a sharps disposal container there you could use, too.

Maybe someone else knows about that, though?

She was probably talking about the First Aid Stations, there is one in each park:

First Aid These locations provide a place to store medications or receive assistance

First Aid station locations are as follows:
Magic Kingdom® Park - Adjacent to the Crystal Palace off Main St.,USA
Epcot® - Odyssey Center in Future World
Disney's Hollywood Studios™ - Adjacent to the Guest Relations Building just past the Main Entrance
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park - Behind Creature Comforts in Discovery Island
Disney's Blizzard Beach - Between Beach Haus and Lottawatta Lodge
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon - Adjacent to Leaning Palms

All of the first aid locations are open from before park opening to after park closing. They will store any medications or medical equipment for you at no charge. They will refrigerate medicines if needed.

They will also provide a prive are for injections or other medical purposes.

They are each staffed by at least two RNs during all hours that the parks are open.

Thanks everyone! I was wondering if it was the First Aid stations but was unsure what services they would provide in regard to insulin.
Thanks again!

Hi Hope you have a good time on your trip.

My son is an insulin dependant diabetic and we went in 2006 and are going again in March this year.

We carried the insulin pen with us at all time in a "Frio" bag which kept the insulin at the right temperature and just left his spare insulin in the resort fridge.

Apparently if you are staying at a WDW hotel you can request a sharps bin for the duration of your stay - if you try this out can you let me know if it works as that will be one less thing to pack in the suitcase!

Have a good holiday - I am so looking forward to the next trip - more than the kids I think!
