As mentioned in another post, my anniversary is coming up. After going back and forth on many many other ideas, DH and I decided to once again enjoy the DLR without kids. We're new to the wine tasting scene and I had no idea there were so many restaurants in the resort that were centered around wine. Which restaurant do you recommend for our third wedding anniversary celebration?

Okay. I know Adrienne will be here in two shakes to tell you that you have to go to Napa Rose..... but I liked The Vineyard Room better. We did the wine pairing there and it was soooooo good. The waiter told us about all the wines and the food was amazing!

Napa was also very good but I hated how close together the tables were. We were literally 2 feet from the table next to us. The waiter there was also very knowledgeable and nice. The food was equally amazing but I found the wine pairing to be very seafood based, which I don't love. The dessert though, OMG. To Die For. I had the egg nog creme brulee.

So, I guess you couldn't go wrong with either one, but I would give the nod to VR for better spacing and more mainstream menu.

I hate to be TOTALLY predictable BUT....

Napa Rose and here's why: :D

I never get the fixed menu with wine pairing because, like Mermaid, I don't like seafood. But. That doesn't matter because the wait staff loves to talk to you about wine and teach you about wine even if you order off the fixed menu. Seriously. If you said "Ok, we're new to wine tasting. We've heard that this is a great place to learn about wine, can you help us pick out something for our dinner tonight?" They totally will. You might might might even get some samples along the way.

I MUST sit at the chef's table. This is my goal is to do that in the next 6 months. (We don't get out much.)

From the looks of your avatar, you have your own sweet little chef at home that you get to sit with every night :D

Thank you all for your recommendations! We had a wonderful dinner last night at Napa Rose. The Chef's counter was quite an experience (at the very least it inspired me to rethink going to culinary school). Sous chef Francisco was lovely and lively and gracious! Poe was an excellent waiter with a wonderful wine recommendation! The food was beautiful and the service was amazing! I really can't say enough good things about Napa Rose! We are looking forward to repeating the night for Valentine's Day!

Needless to say, I'm very glad. I won't even say "told you so" because you said it so much better than I could have. :)

(cstephens, should we be getting a kickback or something?)

This answers one of my questions, thank you, it sounds amazing. We have 3 hours, no kids, and would like to do a nice dinner (but still be close). Sounds like this is it!!!! What is the chefs table? Sorry, I don't get out much:) How far in advance can we make reservations or is it PS? Are there any other recommendations once we are there?

Poe was an excellent waiter with a wonderful wine recommendation!

Our favorite server there! We haven't seen him in a while, so I didn't even know if he was still there.

I'm in a Napa Rose drought myself, but I know I'm going in early March.

The Chef's counter is right at the kitchen. Poe called it the skybox! It was very fun to see them prepare all the food. I told DH that I felt like a judge on Iron Chef! I think PS reservations can be made 60 days in advance, but I could be wrong. We had the New York steak (I'm not really a seafood person) and Poe recommended the Chalone Vineyard Cabernet, very good.

Needless to say, I'm very glad. I won't even say "told you so" because you said it so much better than I could have. :)

I'd be more than happy to share a bottle of wine with both of you! We already have the where, just let me know when!

Here's NR's dirty little secret:

If you call Disney Dining, you can make reservations/priority seatings 60 days advance. But. If you call NR directly, 90 days in advance, you can make them with NR directly. I don't know if this includes the chef's table or not but when I tried to get PS's for my husband's birthday in the fall, and I couldn't, the Disney Dining operator clued me in.

<blink> You don't have Napa's direct number in your phone? YOU'RE CALLING DISNEY DINING? <blink>

<sound of illusions shattering>

Actually, next time I go, I might not have to call anyone in the 714 because someone keeps telling me just to talk to her directly and she'll set me up....

Do I get my illusion back?
