I would really like to have a character breakfast at Ohana during our 10/08 visit. My question is: does it sell out quickly like Cindy's? Or can I pretty much get a reservation at any time?

It definitely isn't one of those where you have to dial in right as the switchboards open (like Cinderella's Royal Table), but I wouldn't wait overly long past the reservation window either. It is a very popular location and, particularly if you are going during a busy time, it could fill up pretty fast.

Also be prepared to allow a lot of extra time on the day you are going there. When we had breakfast there back in October, we weren't actually seated until about 45 minutes or so after our reservation time. We were told that guests tend to linger there quite a bit, so they frequently fall quite a bit behind.

I had a heck of a time trying to get dinner reservations there for this coming weekend, on Saturday, the 12th, for 6 people.

We called about 2 months ago, and they had one slot open for that many people this weekend, at 5:15pm. The middle of January is hardly a crowded time for tourists....

Also called yesterday to try to add one person to the reservation, and was told it was booked solid and we couldn't add 1 person. It's understandable though, just sort of disappointing.

I live in Orlando, and eat at the WDW restaurants all the time...but Ohana's is one that we've never been able to get into, or book a reservation for the same week.

It's been my experience that the booking of restaurants has drastically changed since the advent of the Disney Dining Plan. I used to book most dining reservations around 6 weeks out, but no way any more. The Coral Reef will be sold out for prime times on the afternoon that a date opens for booking - 180 days in advance! The best thing anyone can do is simply book as far in advance as you can and hope for the best.

It's certainly true that there's much less people in January. We got reservations for 'Ohana with no problem, we made them 2-3 days before at the Polynesian. Not only that, but there were practically no lines for any of the rides at MK and Epcot!

CRT isn't exactly THAT tough anymore (and hasn't been for about a year), but breakfast at 'Ohana isn't as tough as CRT is either. dinner at 'ohana is another story though.

bottom line, book as soon as you can. you do not need any sort of disney reservation to book and there are no penalties if you choose to change your mind (and in most cases, no penalties at all if you can't show up).

Sounds like good news but why not? What's changed to make it easier to get in here?

the largest contributing factor was making it 2 DDP credits and otherwise payment in full at the time of booking. this happened in feb 06.

the biggest problem with CRT was that people would just double and triple book it just to cover their own butts. to counteract that, it had a $10 per person deposit as security for a bit prior to this change. and many just don't consider it that much of a value anymore, especially with akershus offering princess meals for all 3 meals.

not to say you should try for CRT at 10 days out, but getting choice dining at 150-160 days out isn't that unheard of.

We were at Ohana for breakfast last May and it was sold out. The beginning of May. We had problems getting there due to major bus screw up and missed our earlier ressie. It is getting popular especially with the dining plan. The food is good and if you get a seat by the window you get a great view of the Mk.

We went for Breakfast in September and made our reservations just a few days before at the front desk of our hotel.

However, my advise is to tell them you are celebrating something. Anything. If you are there on a special occasion you get leis. (sp) if not nothing. My kids wanted leis. Majority of the room had them. I requested from our server and he gave me the song and dance of have to be celebrating. I told him we were. We were celebrating all being there together on the last day of our vacation. He promised to go get me some but did not. I politely went to the check in lady and she happily handed me two in the colors of my choice. Of course my server made no comment when he saw them and never did show up with any in hand. I realize not a big deal to some people but my kids felt left out that we did not have any.
