They're gone. I'm sad. I'd show you HOW sad, but I don't have my smilies.

I can code them, but when I click on them, nothing happens.

They appear to be working for me. Are you still having problems?

Did you change your settings?

Follow this link (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/profile.php?do=editoptions), and scroll down to "Thread Display Options." Make sure the box marked "Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)" is checked.

Nope. That doesn't appear to be the problem either. Maybe it's my ginormous head?

Oh, and I can see everyone else's smilies, including mine (when I code them). I just can't get them into my reply by clicking on them.

Do the other controls in the bar above the post entry box work?

Now that you mention it, no they don't. Hmmm, it sounds like you might know what's wrong...

Nope, just doing basic troubleshooting. But it is sounding like a javascript problem.

What browser are you using?

Up in the top menu bar on this page (with User CP, FAQ, etc), when you click "Search" does the search box expand or does it take you to a new page?

On this comp (my 2 laptops are both down at the moment), Explorer 7 (I believe that's the latest version).

Interestingly, it takes me to a new page- which is also different.

Would I perhaps solve my problem by downloading Firefox (which is what I use on my laptops)? I'm on Olivia's (DD) comp and she goes to so few sites that I just haven't really thought about downloading it to be perfectly honest. I've only been using it recently because I am waiting for some stuff (pictures, music, etc) to be taken off the hard drive on my other comps before I reload everything.

It sounds like javascript is disabled on the computer (that is the common element to all the things not working). This could be that it was turned off or because the security levels on the computer have been set high (maybe done because it was your daughter's computer).

In IE, click Tools --> Internet Options in the menu bar. In the pop up window select the Security Tab. Select the globe icon for the "Internet" zone. What security level is listed in the "Security level for this zone" section?

It's customized, but set on medium for javascript. Until the changeover, I could do smilies on this comp...does that help?

BTW, thanks for trying to figure this out, Alex.

Some of the new features require new scripts to run on your machine. If you have a blocking program, you may need to grant permissions for them to run.

Try adding www.mouseplanet.com and mousepad.mouseplanet.com to the trusted sites list (accessed from the same security tab you just checked, click the "Trusted Sites" zone and then click the Sites button) and see if that helps.

Or, open the Customize level... window (Select "Internet" zone then click that button). Scroll down almost to the bottom and find Scripting --> Active Scripting and see if it is set to disable. If so, reset it to enable, click ok, click ok again, and see if that fixes it.

My active scripting is enabled.

I set my security in my trusted sites to low, made sure the active scripting there was enabled, added both addresses and...

nothing.

(I would code in a frown emoticon but since you're being so helpful...)

Try adding yui.yahooapis.com to the trusted site list.

Also, you may want to try clearing your temporary files. There may be a corrupted file in there.

Alex, I added the website.

Tony, I cleared my files...nothing.

If this helps, I logged into LoT, which also uses vbulletin (version 3.6.4). My smilies over there work as does everything else.

Ok, without being able to actually play with your computer, I'm stumped. Are you using any third party browser add-ons or security software?

If JS works at other sites then it is the javascript here that is causing problems. As near as I can tell looking at the sourcode, the only javascript we're using is from one of the three URLs I had you add to trusted sites (plus a google analytics one but that shouldn't affect anything).

I guess you could download Firefox/Opera and see if that works. If not then it is almost certainly something on the computer but outside of the browser.

The only thing I use that I would consider an "add on" is yahoo.

Security software is Avast antivirus and both Spybot and Adaware anti-spyware. I believe Avast includes a firewall but it would be at its original settings. As I am typing this, I am downloading an update for Avast but that doesn't seem to be where my problem is.

BTW, I also checked on DISboards which uses vBulletin, Version 3.6.5. Everything works there too.

Thanks a lot for trying to figure this out. I mean, ultimately, it's not that huge of a deal that I have to code the smilies when I want to use them- more weird than anything.

You might want to try now. I tweaked the toolbar settings for your account, and this setting may work better.

Now I'm really invested in the Whitney Smiley Saga! Perhaps a petition would help?

Please help Whitney get smilies. :)

We could have a protest rally and everything.

I vote for holding it at DL.
