We're planning on staying on site so we wont have to rent a car) 2/9 to 2-13. 2 adults, 2 kids (a 2 yr old and 4 yr old).
Should we get travel insurance? is it pretty much same insurance if we get it through disney , travel agent or AAA?
We're thinking of getting ticket, airfare and hotel either trhougha travel club or AAA...just not sure if we should get insurance as well.
Thanks.

Doing a quick search, I found this recent thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=86320&highlight=insurance) and an older thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=71751&highlight=travel+insurance) that might give you some insight on Trip Insurance via some past conversations.
In regards to this topic, my first question usually is... why are you considering TI? Reason why I ask is because like any other form of insurance, there are exclusions where it just wont cover you. At the same time, there are other ways to protect yourself from financial losses in the event of an issue that causes you to miss your trip.

Personally, I'm a firm believer in getting as little insurance as possible. I used to travel for a living, and I never got the trip insurance. Over the years the airlines lost my bags twice, and both times they found them later and delivered them to my room. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never been in a situation where I wished that I'd had travel insurance.

How much will the insurance cost?
And how much would you lose if something happens that prevents your trip?
I like to have insurance when I am going out of the country, mainly medical and medical transport costs. And then protection for trip delays would be nice.
I deal with these folks because I can talk to a real person in the US on the phone and they are pretty good about explaining trip insurance.

I only get trip insurance if I am traveling in the heart of Hurricane season. That is the only thing that I think would be likely to happen when traveling to the East Coast. Otherwise, I don't get it.

While getting insurance or not is a personal decision, if you are booked with a package through Disney, either directly or with your travel agent, or an agent at AAA, the Disney insurance is $66.95 per adult for any length trip, children covered free, and your flights are insured whether you buy them through Disney or not, as long as they are on the same dates as your trip.
There are many exclusions with any type of trip insurance. Most coverage is for medical reasons, weather delays, etc. Most policies will cover a medical emergency or death in the family, even if that person is not traveling. (What I'm trying to say is you never know with an elderly relative.) You can always view a policy pamphlet before you decide to buy or not, as coverage varies among companies.
The insurance offered by Disney on their packages is by no means the only one out there. There are several types of policies and companies available to cover independent arragements too. Your travel agent or AAA office will have details on a few. I just find the Disney insurance is affordable for most families and covers the basics that most are concerned about.
The deciding factor could be how much would you lose if you cancelled the trip without any insurance. Work it out and see if you are comfortable with it.
